The devil in the details
I preface this by saying I'm new on this site, and really love it. It is so different than other BONES sites, where posters are down right mean to each other. There are sometimes difference's of opinion, but it is almost always civil. Saying all this with a good heart, I again disagree that Booth has to make the first move. Deep down he doesn't think that Brennan loves him. He even said that to Gordon Gordon in his restaurant. He is afraid of rejection. If Brennan gave any indication that she was interested, He would step up to the plate.

So is Brennan, afraid of rejection that is, but I think in this case she's better equipped to deal with it. Booth is so convinced, on some level, that Brennan can't or won't return his affections that he's almost pre-disposed toward believing that she'll reject him. That's why I think it'll come down to some dramatic event that leads to Brennan snapping and confessing or acting on her love for him. THEN once he's got the "proof" he needs, he'll tell her he loves her.the beaver1965 wrote:I preface this by saying I'm new on this site, and really love it. I might add that the impish part of me read the complimentary words about civility at the ABY (all of which are true) and had the urge to start off this post "Jane, you ignrorant slut." Then it dawned on me that A) most of you are too young to know the reference and B) someone here might actually be name Jane. Ah well, it would have been funny. Irony and all that.

Re: 5x14 The Devil in the Details ~ SHOW DISCUSSION
Booth made the line on the worst day of his life; Cam was in the hospital, Parker had been the target of Epps attention, Brennan had to deal with the killer in her own apartment and Booth let him fall to his death. This was not the best time for him to make life altering decisions like the line, however, the line was put down three years ago and they're both very, very different people now. Booth is more serious now, he actually tries to use logic an be rational some times; Brennan is more open, she wants to believe in love and tries to put her heart first. They're both intelligent and reasonable adults and as Brennan's fond of saying, entropy pulls everything apart, everything changes eventually. So I honestly don't think the line is a real issue anymore, and if it is, they're desperate for issues to forestall the inevitable.jcn747 wrote:the beaver1965 wrote:I preface this by saying I'm new on this site, and really love it. I agree with "the line" issue, but I also think it needs to be addressed. They (the writers) put it out there and it hasn't even been HINTED at since. I think Brennan MAY have mentioned it in passing once, but other than that, nada. If it's NOT an issue anymore, then show us (the audience) that it's not.

yeah Brennan mentioned it a season 3 episode during a session with Sweets ( I think it was the "that's what we are? coffee?" conversation ........ she said that there was a line "that doesn't even need to be there") I think HH has said that it's not really a big issue between them, but I agree I think it should be addressed on the show, it doesn't need to be made a huge story point on the show, They managed to show that Brennan's attitude toward marriage was changing, with minimal time or attention paid to it (one line in The Goop on the Girl), I think they could do the same thing with "the line"

Exactly. It doesn't have to be a big deal at all, in fact it's better if it's not, but it's gotta be paid attention to, I think. Maybe Sweets will bring it up in the 100th...doubt it, but it would be a good opportunity, I bet.

I suspect that if the line is addressed, it won't be until right before it's completely obliterated. I mean, why discuss the need for a line meant to separate them (that way) unless they're either reaffirming the need for it to be in place or acknowledging they passed it several months ago?
There's a chance that it might be option A, but then they both know something is there and are willfully ignoring it...and the only difference from now would be that they are both know. As will we, which just might be the biggest difference.

Oh, I agree. Making mention of it right before it's obliterated would work out just fine for me.

Yes i do agree it is not an issue as such, but when you are considering telling your best friend you love them it is still a factor.
