Yeah I think the Oilers and Habs played in Edm a few years back but I don't think it was called the Winter Classic.

Actually, they WANTED to call that game the Winter Classic, but all they could manage was "BRRRRRRRR!"

They said something about it yesterday, that it was the third outdoor game, but this was the second annual winter classic, so I'm going to assume that it wasn't called that.

Just thought I'd post the ratings for the Winter Classic...

NHL Winter Classic on NBC delivers big rating
Saturday, 01.03.2009 / 2:43 PM / Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic 2009

NEW YORK – January 3, 2009 – NHL Winter Classic 2009, broadcast New Year's Day on NBC from historic Wrigley Field, earned a 2.9 overnight rating and a 6 share (1-4:15 p.m. ET), the best overnight NHL regular season rating in nearly 13 years (Feb. 3, 1996 on Fox, six-game regional, 3.0/7) and a 12 percent increase over last year's inaugural event (2.6/5, 1-4:45 p.m. ET). The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 6-4 in the second U.S. outdoor game in NHL history.

"Year one was an extraordinary experience. Year two was the establishment of what promises to be a great tradition," said NBC Sports President Ken Schanzer.

Oh, and how about Sid the Kid tonight.....that was AWESOME!! Haha, 19 minutes in penalties for one fight, FANTASTIC!!

Brian McCabe: Attacking a guy off a faceoff is immature and reckless.

Sidney Crosby: I asked him if he wanted to go, he said yes, which I assume means yes, I guess he didn't take me seriously!! HAHA priceless. GO YOUNGBLOOD!!

I'm sorry about the Sens, I like the Sens and I'm so sad to see what they are going through this year, but hey I won't give up, they'll find a way to win.

I was busy watching the JR's too, and freaking out OH CANADA, how perfect was that??? Amazing! But I saw the highlights about Sid and I had to continue to watch so I did, and it was AWESOME, he rocked!! Brian McCabe is such a tool, and I'm so glad that he isn't a Canuck anymore! You'll have to watch it, it was like Rob Lowe in Youngblood except WAY better!!

Yes the Sens have been mighty frustrating this season. They have moments when they look like there's nothing wrong and then the other team scores and all hell seems to break loose. At least they got a point in NJ last night. I don't even care if they make the playoffs this year, I just want to see them play hard and play better.

Canada goes for the gold tonight! GOOOOOO CANADA!!!!
