Re: Newbie Introduction/Roll Call
Hi Marta! Glad you could join us. And like A2B said, come on by the IHBFC.
Re: Newbie Introduction/Roll Call
Im still technically new..
My name is India...yep my parents named me after a country.
Im 21.
About to start my last year at uni studing archaeology.
I was born in Sydney, but have lived on the Gold Coast all my life.
I cant wait to travel the world...have really only stuck to travelling the southern hemishpere, but im off to Europe in 7 weeks!
I hate having to drive 90 mins to uni everyday...
I am terribly sarcastic, but not in a mean way and can be really awkward if i havent socialised in a while.
Nevertheless im quick with the whit and not to sound big headed but people tend to think im bloody hilarious!
I love cycling and baseball.....but hate the fact that the rest of Australia doesn't care about it.
Im thoughrougly enjoying this board and all it has to offer. Everyone is far too nice!

Re: Newbie Introduction/Roll Call
Hi India! I'm Fluff, and welcome to the board.
From your bio, here's what we have in common:
I take offense to the phrase "sarcasm is the lowest form of humor." Unfortunately I tend to be awkward even if I am constantly in social situations. Therefore I tend to avoid them or just hang around with close friends.
Yeah, I think it's my deadpan delivery and/or odd turns of phrase and rants, but people do get a bit of a giggle talking to me.
The first people I told about my PSAT scores? That would be the crowd on the IHBFC. Love you all. They've been so welcoming since I came on that I constantly talk about them as if we're best friends in real life.

Re: Newbie Introduction/Roll Call
sarcasm is definitely the highest form of humour. even better when you're with a whole bunch of sarcastic people and you have to beat them to it...now thats talent
Re: Newbie Introduction/Roll Call
I read through the other introduction / roll call submissions and must begin by hanging my head in shame for what I am about to produce. I will attempt humor and will, as is often the case, most assuredly fail.
1. I am pessimistic and self depricating when I believe it will best serve me.
2. I am a compulsive liar and love to leave people in a quandry over whether or not to believe that statement when I make it.
3. I was just kidding on those first two.
Okay for real now....
1. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Criminal Justice minor.
2. I was introduced to Kathy Reichs by a friend of mine in the Forensics program at Baylor and thought that she was writing for me because I was taking French lessons at the time and wanted to become a Forensic Anthropologist.
3. I still enjoy her writing but no longer believe that KR is writing for me...therapy has been very helpful.
4. That last part about the therapy was my sad attempt at humor...but I really did think it was cool about her combining the French and Forensic Anthropology.
5. I have a Master's Degree but am taking a break before going after my Ph.D. because I've spent a majority of my life in school and I just can't do it anymore...right now.
6. I have great friends and family that are completely supportive of me and my decisions but are also expecting me to eventually kick it back into gear and start going for my dreams again.
7. I DO know what that means.
8. I'm dating a wonderful guy but have no plans for marriage at this time.
9. My mother has all but given up on my ever providing her with grandchildren.
10. Her chances are much better for adopted grandchildren than biological ones; however, I am keeping that info to myself...and all of you.
11. If you somehow managed to tell my mother, I would have to pull the Over-the-top-laugh-while-slicing-my-finger-across-my-throat motion toward you.
12. When I saw the first episode of Bones I was not sure if I was going to like it or not.
13. Looking back all these years later, I find myself loving the first episode more and more and wonder if it's because I know where the characters are going to go in the future that makes me enjoy it or if I just enjoy the reflection on the past.
14. I have no idea what I was trying to say in #13.
15. I doubt anyone is reading this anymore and if they are can only promise to attempt smaller posts in the future.
Okay, so there you have it. That's me in a nutshell.
Oh yeah, my name is Jessica, but my middle name is Leigh (like Lee not like sleigh without the s). That is about as basic a name as you can get so I started combining the first initial with my entire middle name and that's where the screenname comes from. You may call me whatever you like.

Hi there, Jaeleigh! I read your entire post and found it quite entertaining.
My name is Meegs and I just want to say welcome to the ABY! This is a fantastic place to be. Thanks so much for sharing a bit about yourself. I don't think I ever did that when I joined...perhaps I will, you have inspired me!
Anywho, hope you like it here, we all do!

I found it quite entertaining, too!
I find it quite fascinating that you are a Forensics/Anthropology major. That's frickin' sweet.
You can call me Mama... Everyone does.
I don't think I've ever posted here... huh.

Re: Newbie Introduction/Roll Call
Wow. I just realized that I haven't done roll call yet.
So here it blows (and don't forget to welcome Jessica. She's newer than me!)
1. I'm 24.
2. I'm an Oregonian.
3. I'm 5' 1 3/4", 125 pounds give or take... usually I'm a little too generous.
4. I love to write. It has been my addiction since I can remember. The first story I remember writing was about a family of deer who lived in a cave (circa 2nd grade). So, you can always catch me in the fanfic section, reading or writing.
5. I have a wild 2 year old daughter who is currently climbing all over me. I'm letting her. It takes less energy to do that.
6. I have brown hair and brown eyes. Mainly Native American Ancestry.
7. I have a wonderfully devoted hubby who has ridiculously long and curly eyelashes. I finally let him talk me into putting mascara on him (post 15-minute begging session) and it seriously looked like he had false lashes on. *seethes in jealousy*
8. I've graduated from college. Ed major, but I'm going back for something else. I don't think I'm suited for it. Never have...
9. I love to dance. I can't sing. I love art. I oil paint quite well.
10. We might be moving to Spain in a few years... *shhhh* Don't tell my MIL. She'll freak.

Re: Newbie Introduction/Roll Call
I joined the ABY a couple of weeks ago but only found out about this place to introduce myself today. So here it goes...
1. My real name is Marion
2. I live in Germany
3. I am 28 yrs old
4. I majored in Poli Sci and work in local politics
5. I quickly learned that politicians act more like kindergarden children than like adults sometimes so I need something to unwind...
6. And to unwind there\'s Bones and the ABY (Yay!!!)
7. I am addicted to Bones since the first season aired in Germany and I converted my best friend and my sister to become \'Bonesaddicts\' as well
I really like the ABY. It helps me deal with my addiction and proves that there is nothing wrong with it. I am not the crazy one! It\'s all the others who don\'t get the beauty of it. We are special...

Re: Newbie Introduction/Roll Call
I'm not *quite* new, but the idea seems like fun to me
My name is Consuelo and I'm from Chile. I'm 25 years old I'm addicted to Bones and Lost, so I'm really happy both shows are not airing the same day. I'm still thinking of borrowing the DVDs for all seasons of House, but I'm in no hurry.
I'm studying to be a Psychologist. The educational system is different over here, so it takes longer to get out of University... I'm currently on my summer holidays and next year I'll be on my 5th year. I should be a Psychologist by may or june 2009.
I love to read, and I enjoy writing a lot. I've been doing both things since I can remember. The first story I remember writing was about a girl that fell in love with a guy she saw standing next to a swimming pool. I guess I knew about the good stuff since I was a child! And, even though it's pretty obvious from that little anecdote, I'm a closet romantic (so my favorite kind of stories are romance with a plot. Take Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series as an example, and if you haven't read them go get those books right away!).
I'm also a full blown optimistic. Not the barbie-candy-pink kind of optimistic, but one nonetheless. My patience is short and my anger is short lived. I love to laugh and make people laugh. I love arguing and talking about what I call modern philosophy. I talk and laugh quite loudly. People think I'm extremely rational, but I like to think I've learnt to dive into my emotions. I've gone through some difficult
experiences in my life, but I like to think possitively of them... They've helped me evolve.
I'm good with my hands and quite promiscuous with my art. I paint, sculpt clay, draw, knit, make jewelry and many other things I don't know how to say in english. I'm *sort* of a squint, since I love mixing science and the metaphysical. You should hear me explaining the world away. I'm a fan of NatGeo, Discovery Channel and History Channel, and I know many simple facts, just like Vino Delectable. Ok, maybe not that much and not in quite the same way. I'm tall (5ft10) and chubby
BOOKS: Besides Diana Gab's, my fav books include LOTR and meditation and spirituality books. No much about religion, tho.
MUSIC: Tori Amos, Moloko, Massive Attack, 80's classics, George Michael, Electronic (Chill Out, Trip Hop, Acid Jazz, Ambient, some selected House&Trance, ethno-electro). Bossa Nova, brazilectric. Depeche Mode. Irish, Scottish, Celtic (Scottish Bagpipes are a weakness. Men in kilts as well. Blame Gabaldon for that.)
Michael Buble. Verve Remixed Collection (specially Vol1). Dead Can Dance!.
Err... Sorry, but I got inspired! This is a LONG post!
ps (yes, I still can think of more things to say
): I loooove the good loooove of the aby, and I hope everyone feels just that great! welcome all!
