Say What You Want: Goodbye, dear ABY. You have been my home for 3 years now, and I am going to miss you. Thanks, willgirl, for creating this wonderful forum. *hugs to all*
Closing time - time for you to go back to the places you will be from.
Closing time - this room won't be open 'til your brothers or your sisters come.
So gather up your jackets, and move it to the exits - I hope you have found a friend.
Closing time - every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

My wife came from an abusive father. She never really broke free. When we had our own kids I came down before work and overheard my wife talking to our four year old daughter. I had to intervene when I heard my wife say to her, "If you don't do what I ask I won't love you anymore . . ."
That's what she learned from her parents. I made it my only priority after that to let my kids know that love is unconditional and that their being worthy of love is not based on merit or it needing to be earned. I play a game with my kids when they ask me for something or confess a mistake they've made and ask forgiveness.
In a lofty, deep, royal sounding voice I ask, "Are you worthy?" and they answer, "Yes. I am worthy?" Then I ask them why they think they are worthy. They get a huge smile when they answer, "Because you love me, Daddy."

Re: Archive #7
I remember one time my brother threw a flashlight at my and it hit me in a head. This wasn't an ordinary flashlight, bit one of the big, heavy Maglite ones that cops carry. I was afraid to tell my dad because he would get pissed so I sat in my room all day with a lump on my head and a headache until my mom came home.
And then there was this one time that my brother and I put a whole in the wall. That was really, really bad day.
Yet I can never, ever speak ill of the same man that didn't eat for three days so that we could eat the little food that remained in the cabinets when we couldn't afford it. Or the same man that works his ass off for eight hours with a lump on the back of his ankle from when he broke his ankle and couldn't afford the doctor bills to ever get it properly fixed. I still must applaud this man for everything that he has done for me.

So if I keep asking questions that you only need to answer with a single word or two that will get around tour aversion to one word posts to speed up the process?
