When Is It Time To Move On?
When is it time to move on from a dead-end job? I work in customer service...and I love people, don't get me wrong, but I hate this job. The pay is good, the benefits are good...but its 30 miles away from home and people are just do darn rude! :?:

I feel your pain.
I too am in customer service. Same scenario as you outlined.
HOWEVER the job market sucks, so I keep reminding myself on bad days:
I am only here to make money so I can be happy...

I am only here to make money so I can be happy...

Thank you. I think I'm gonna print that out so I can be reminded daily of why I am actually here lol. Today is not such a horrible day as it is slow and its FRIDAY! What kind of place do you work at, if you don't mind me asking? I work at a water/sewer utility.

I work for Hunter Douglas (you know, stupidly expensive blinds, etc); in customer service. You'd be AMAZED how pissed people get when their blind comes the wrong color, etc.
when things are going espicially bad, I remind myself of that phrase. I find it helps.

I feel you guys, I work for customer service for a mobile phone company and everyday i tak care of more than 30 persons arguing bc their bill came to high, they lost their phone or the service is too expensive...Sometimes all I get to do is take a break and sit outside for a couple mins repeating to myself the same thing: I am only here to make money... Just glad other persons understand where my suffering

I find the best time to start looking for a new job is when you get up in the morning in a gorgeous mood--and it promptly ruins your entire day when you realize a minute later you have to go to work. And this happens every %$^%& day, not just once in a while.

Re: When Is It Time To Move On?
I'm about to give my notice at my job as well. We hate the town we live in but we've stayed until our two sons graduate high school. The youngest is done in June and we plan to be gone by end of July at the latest. But I'm not waiting until the last minute to leave my sucky job. I need to have time to pack up the house, have a yard sale, etc etc, so I'm hoping end of Apr or mid- May I'll be done.
BTW, I work in the worst of ALL Customer service jobs....THE DMV!!
