we will have most of the same classes
but since you are outside the US you don't have to train in all four fields you lucky bastard... linguistics is going to kill me ! we have to be well rounded so not only do we have to do all our specialist training we all have to have a minimum level in all the other sub fields

I'll probably end up doing a minor in just plain old boring anthro. You get a pretty good grounding in First year anyway, cause you have to do all the groundwork. Linguistics looks awesome. My Minors will probably shift around. Cause I was considering Linguistics as a minor, and I am so indecisive. There is to much to choose from. So I am thinking of doing a double degree.

remember at some point they like you to graduate !

The longer you hang around the more you pay them. Although I would like to move onto my graduate stuff so I can get my PhD somewhere this century.

I know we got a lecture on monday about not turning into one of those grad students that has been there for 10 years but then they put us in a class room with them !

I am maybe doing my grad stuff and PhD in the US.

ok then just a warning there are these evil things called quals that are two tests you have to take in your second year of your masters that are preadmission tests for the PHD programs you have to get a high pass in your main subfield and a pass in your second subfield you need to read like 50+ books to prepare for each and you take the test in fount of a bunch of professors and then they get to quiz you for the second half of the test they have been known to cause severe depression, suicides, and metal breakdowns start preparing now!

you should have seen the group of us getting whiter and whiter as the professors were talking about them some looked almost ready to cry

lol our professors worry about us so much that they had a school counselor come in and talk to us on the first day saying things like its not bad if you feel overwhelmed and need to see someone and that they are free for enrolled grad students and that should please form study groups as they make us feel less isolated and are better for our metal health
