oh yeah, that stuff totally exists. but the thing is...some argue that it might be overpriced crap, but it gets people talking about art- which doesn't happen often. some will say that in and of itself makes the art valuable.

there was a gallery in canada that recently had a banana on exhibition. it started with a green banana, then each day was replaced with a gradually riper one. demonstrating the beauty of nature... according to the artist. the bananas were not special in any way, they were just meant to be thought provoking. they weren't for sale, yet people were offering thousands for them.

... were the people offing money chumps? or was the artist brilliant for turning a banana into 'art'? or did she even do that? did the bananas become art when people offered money for them?
