And here is to hoping that New Moon will be better.
Also, I miss all the kisses that didn't make it.
I agree with everything you said, but just wanted to quote your last bit because that pretty much sums up my feelings.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the 'fast running' wasn't very well done. I also kept waiting for Bella to cook for Charlie and was disappointed when they kept eating at the diner. The whole 'what is he gonna do about feeding himself after I'm gone' is going to lose its meaning if they keep that up.
I saw the movie with two people who hadn't read the books, and one of them snorted during the kissing scene. Looking at it objectively, I suppose it was a bit overdone if you didn't know about Edward's inner struggle not to kill her.
RP did the best he could, but he did look like he was either very angry or in major pain most of the time. The guy's got a killer smile, and I can't wait to see him smile more in future installments.
KS was exactly what I pictured Bella to be, and I thought she did a good job. I didn't think the kid who played Jacob was quite cute enough, but maybe he'll get cuter as he ages. Can't wait to see what they do to make him 'huge' later like he is in the books. The kid they cast for Eric was completely wrong, as was Angela. Jessica and Mike were pretty much what I imagined.
Alice was perfect. Rosalie wasn't quite as pretty as I thought she should be. Emmett and Jasper were spot on. Didn't really like Carlisle and Esme, but maybe they'll grow on me.
Overall, I give it 4 out of 5. I wouldn't mind seeing it again, and I'm sure I'll buy the DVD when it comes out. I can't wait for the next movie.
Re: Twilight Junkies
I listened to the audio book of Twlight on my 12 hr drive to TN last Friday... Amazing. I enjoyed the book better than the movie, but I am always that way when it comes to books and movies.
On the way back today, my roommate and I took turns reading aloud from the second book. Amazingly, we finished it. Stayed up after we got home to finish it.
Now I must go buy the 3rd!

Re: Twilight Junkies
Totally Edward, all the way. He and Bella have a forever love that is so rare. I haven't been this nuts about a pairing since Buffy and Angel.
Yay, Bella! You go, girl! I read the series in 10 days, then immediately started over and read more slowly. It's amazing how much I missed the first time thru.
I bought the set on Amazon for $35 and just sold it for $55 on eBay. They're insanely popular! I hope I don't live to regret selling them, but I can't imagine reading them a third time.

RED!!
I did the same thing, although I didn't sell mine, but I did read the series in eight days, and I'm halfway through the third one again! I am totally amazed at some of the things I missed, but only because I was so engrossed in the love story, that my mind sometimes went elsewhere! I loved this series and I cannot wait for the film, my tiny little town in the middle of nowhere only has one theatre and I might as well wait for it to come out on DVD! It is truly a beautiful love story and I simply cannot wait for Midnight Sun, I refuse to read bits and pieces of it, 'cause then I'll just want the whole thing!!

Re: Twilight Junkies
Ok so... I was talking to someone today who was complaining about how lame Bella is. How she couldn't do anything without Edward and blah blah blah... It frustrates me when people rag on Bella cause I love her. I can relate to her. Which a load of people can... and I kept thinking... in the end... wasn't it Bella who saved them all? Doesn't that perhaps make up for all the times when she couldn't... you know fight off a pack of newborn vampires herself... or even take on James... Which btw she was willing to do. In the end, they all would have been dead if not for her and her nifty little vamp gift.
I'm all for independant women... but I'll be the first to admit that not every woman will be an independant woman... And I think had Edward never come along she probably could have done fine on her own. She was already a parent to her mother, took care of her father, and on a road to success.
Cut her some slack. I suppose she was supposed to forget all about Edward in a heartbeat. Start sleeping around and discover that life really is better without a guy. Then she could go to college and get a degree, start a career and become a nasty mean bitch.
It's a love story, not a screw men story. Why is it that a woman is veiwed as weak if she lets a guy take care of her? I don't understand that side of the argument however I try.

Phoebs,
Good point, but maybe those people haven't read every book and they don't realize what happens in the end. I'm with you though, I like Bella!!

Re: Twilight Junkies
I also have this problem, phoebs. A lot of people I talk to say that they adore Edward, but they can't relate to/understand Bella or they think she's flat. I like her. I think she's just a slightly above average girl who gets thrown into a fantastic situation. I think that it's important to have someone to lean on. (Warning: movie hate. It's me, what'd you expect?) However, I do not like the Bella portrayed in the movie. The first thing that jumps to my head is the hospital scene where she practically has a seizure until Edward throws her a bone and says he won't leave. I can't exactly pinpoint why, but this is NOT how I pictured it. Also, I think people really have trouble seeing why Edward would want Bella. That's why they have to read Midnight Sun and everyone can be happy!
