What Do/Did You Like to Play with?

Post by marymageli on Thu Feb 05, 2009 2:34 am

Ok, peeps. It's not going to be one of those naughty topics. Let me get that straight! Those who expect that, I'm sorry. Try the IHBFC. lol FYI, the title for my topic was given by my oh-so-lovely and darling sis, kat. I cannot take any credit for it!! lol

So... After having participated in heather's topic about Jasper, the pig, I thought I would start my own one. Yes, apparently I have too much time on my hands!! lol So...what I have come up with is no big deal, but my starting point was that everyone must have had a favourite toy in his/her childhood or even in adult life. In the first 10-12 years of my life I was treated as a real girl in terms of toys. I had three big dolls with tons of clothes (my present obsession lol) and a few normal sized ones - not those tiny Barbie dolls. I also had a few stuffed animals. I'm no longer a child, have even passed my 20s but I'm still a stuffed animal lover. cheers lol Please, post a pic of your past/present favourite toy of any kind or/and tell a story in connection with it. I'm going to post a pic, well two pics of my current favourite, Levi
bear, and will explain in the next post how I got a hold on him.

So here is my first pic of Levi bear sitting next to Santa.

So...I originally bought Levi for one of my little nephew's b-day which was last September. But the more he stayed sitting on the piano, the more I wanted to keep it. lol As a consequence, I bought another stuffed toy for my sister's little boy and kept Levi bear. But I am not as bad as it seems. Very Happy As a courtesy of the originial recipient-to-be, I named the bear after him!! lol

Now Levi bear is sitting on the piano. Cute, isn't he!! He is so fluffy and always ready to embrace me! Very Happy And most importantly, he never ceases to (make me) smile! Very Happy

I wanted to credit you, sis. That's the point! lol Very Happy But you can still tell about your favourite toy from childhood or something...I think just like me you must have been a doll-lover. Am I correct? (Could be wrong, of course.)

I had a baby doll I played with as a kid, her name was baby doll, i know, clever. Now I like my karaoke machine, and my itouch. I don't have pix but i'm sure you know what those look like. I lost baby doll when i was 4 so i don't remember what she looked like, i know she had a purple and white dress and she had one of those big faces with those big sewn in eyes.

Oh, sounds lovely, tears! And sewn eyes are beautiful! I've only had dolls made of plastic. Very Happy When I got older I switched to more challenging lol games like puzzles. The bigger the better. I remember spending whole days completing them. Those were the days...*sighs* without internet! lol

I loved those Teddy bear pics!

My toys when I was really little was a big stuffed lion I wore out, and a Barbie doll.

Mostly I was outside. I played rec league softball from 4th grade all the way through high school. We rode our bikes all the time, and stayed at the swimming pool all summer long. And one thing we did for a couple summers that was great, we all had stilts - we got really good on those.

Hi DBCrazy. Yes, everyone must have had a stuffed lion/dob/bear etc. when very little. Very Happy I loved the playing outdoor part. All the things sound so cool!! I wish I had done similar things. *sighs* Well, living in the town centre as a child don't really alllow you to do such things. And stilts? OMG! That must have been so much fun! Very Happy

Hey Mary. Everybody having a stuffed animal is something that is still the norm - and that makes me glad! Very Happy

The stilts is something you hardly ever see anymore. We had our dads make them for us and there were all kinds. We thought we were cool!! Last year I saw a kid at some football games and he had some sort of stilts from the store - they were kind of like multi-leg, short pogo sticks with a big loop that he held in his hands to keep them taut on his feet. Ingenius - but kind of weird for a "wooden stilt" person like myself.

I'm not sure I could walk on such things let them be stilts or these multi-leg thingy. I have only seen stilts in TV! Very Happy Though I have to admit I'm not so much a fair-goer. lol

You wouldn't think so, but the walking on them isn't so hard as just getting up on them. It's kind of like being a marionette puppeteer - you work them with your hands, and your feet are just along for the ride!

Another thing I remember we did outside - play two-square or four-square. Does anyone do that anymore??
