2009 OSCARS!!!!!
For those of you who are obsessed with the Oscars/Academy Awards like I am, you probably watched the awards ceremony tonight. It was particularly fantastic and I was happily surprised since the past few years, the ceremony has been rather dull. Well, for those of you who aren't as obsessed and would like to know who won, here is a link:
2009 OSCAR WINNERS
And just for the record, my favorite actress, who I personally think will be the next Meryl Streep, won Best Actress. So, congratulations to
KATE WINSLET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 2009 OSCARS!!!!!
Funny you should say that about Kate because I had said something like that to my sister during the red carpet.
With all her nominations and her work that is accumulating, she could very well be the next Meryl Streep. Of course she can't be just like her but she could easily approach that level at her current rate.

Re: 2009 OSCARS!!!!!
That's exactly what I thought, snicker. She has already set a record for Oscar nominations for someone her age. She is 33 and has been nominated 6 times. Meryl Streep just set a record as well: 15 nominations in her lifetime. Meryl is 59. So, Kate has 26 years to obtain 15 nominations.
But seriously, Kate is such a wonderful actress and she more than deserves the Oscar she received tonight!

I'm so annoyed I feel asleep. But since it was like 2am when it began here, it's kind of understandable.
Still bothers me.

Re: 2009 OSCARS!!!!!
I absolutely love Beyonce's work, and I was pleasantly surprised to see her performing. I wasn't too happy to see the High School Musical people part of the performance, but it added well to the act and it made other people happy to see them, so I'm glad for them.
And Kaaaaaaate! I'm SO happy for her. I was watching in a theatre-type room, with a huge screen and we were all lined up on couches. When they announced her name, I think I did a little twitchy dance thing in my seat. People were giving me weird looks, but I don't care
ETA: And I was absolutely ecstatic to see the couple from Mamma Mia! as well (Domic Cooper and Amanda Seyfried). Made my evening, hehe.

Re: 2009 OSCARS!!!!!
I was just glad to have seen the Best Picture winner. Slumdog Millionaire was GREAT!! It totally deserved to win. (Unless you ask my brother. He's still annoyed that The Dark Knight didn't get nominated.)
Re: 2009 OSCARS!!!!!
Oh, I did a happy dance for the rest of the night! When Sean Penn was announced and when Slumdog won, I was doing intermittent happy dances and chanting "Kate won! Kate won!" I watched with my parents (hubby isn't into it) and I informed them that if Kate Winslet did NOT win the Oscar, I would not throw a fit, but I would simply get up, quietly, and leave. Thank goodness that didn't happen! Nope, instead I was grinning like an idiot and dancing for another couple of hours.

Re: 2009 OSCARS!!!!!
Oh, and I thought this year's production was far superior to the past few. The Oscars have kinda gotten dull and boring, but this year, man, they redeemed themselves. Not only was Hugh Jackman fantastic as were the musical numbers, but the way they presented the entire ceremony was superb. Having 5 actors/actresses introduce each of the acting nominees was awesome. And the grouping of awards and having them presented by the same people was brilliant as well.
