What airline are you flying? Some of them will let you print your boarding pass up to 24hrs before. This way you'll know before you leave and be able to call up and raise holy hell!

My mum always just gives me the school things to fill in or goes "Wait, when's your birthday?" "What's your middle name?" "What year are you in?" ... Only for me though.. Shes fine for my sisters.

Northwest you can check in online up to 24 hrs before. Best to do that with them anyway, they are notorious for overbooking. Then all you do at airport is check your luggage and get on the plane.
Call them and double check they will be able to confirm your reservation.
