not until he is 18????? how old is he now??????

9, 10 in December. He can't get any water in his ears, one drop and he can get such bad infections he is in hospital. He has such a high pain tollerance. teh second he says he ear is sore he is off to hospital.

sucks for him.... but you said he lip reads? that must be a hullva lot more useful than sign language...

my mum used to teach at a deaf school and she said that while they start out slow most of them have pretty much caught up by the time they finish high school... i cannot imagine how hard to must be to learn to read when you can;t HEAR... *mind boggles*

It is hard. But because he can lip read saying the words outloud, even if he can't hear them helps him. Lots of flashcards. But he is still very behind.

and yup. Lip reading can be good and bad, if you wan to talk about him where he can see your lips, or a reflection of them, you have to distort them or cover them. But it means that if he is outside you can talk normaly and he knows what is going on.

k so I've lasted... 3 days, well no I've been doing shitloads of stuff in the last 3 days so umm 6 hours doing nothing and now I'm bored.
