Cystic Fibrosis Fundraising

Hey all!

I am participating in an event to raise money for research on the disease, Cystic Fibrosis. My childhood best friend suffers from the genetic malady. She has had it her entire life and she is now 27 years old (the life expectancy is 36). She is currently unable to work and is receiving intravenous antibiotic infusions 20 hours a day. However, her lung function isn't low enough (can you believe that?) to actually be put on a lung transplant list.

Researchers have improved medicine and treatments since my friend was born. The life expectancy at her birth was 12. Obviously, jumping from 12 to 36 is a big step, but there still isn't a cure.

I am walking this Saturday, May 16th in the Great Strides Walk To Cure Cystic Fibrosis. I am posting a link to my page. Even if you don't donate, you can find out more about the disease and the people suffering from it.
