Bones Cast and Motly Crue pic

Post by bones206 on Sat May 16, 2009 10:31 am

FOX won't let me save and then upload the pic, so, it's the very last picture if you click the little orange triangle on either side of the pictures. Very Happy

mereva, Never say Always!

One time I was trying to help my brother by printing out some pics from a powerpoint kind of video, not ppt but something like it. I'd PrintScreen and paste, and it'd just be a black square where that picture was supposed to be. Darndest thing! It'd work fine anywhere and everywhere else. There was some very smart programmer somewhere laughing his butt off at me, cause I wouldn't give up - but nothing worked!

Sorry, my bad! Not "always"! Very Happy
It is not the same though.
By PowerPoint presentations (pps, ppt files) you usually don't use PrintScreen. Because you can extract every single pic in original quality using MS Power Point (part of MS Office) or similar program from OpenOffice. PrintScreen works for me by pps and ppt though, checked it right now... may be not the best quality but still something. So I assume, it wasn't PowerPoint presentation in your case but a "normal" video:
black screen/square usually comes by catching a pic from a video played with Windows Media Player (WMP), realPlayer and video players in general. There work another buttons, they're different for every program. For WMP it is Ctrl and I together.
But by videos on Fox, TNT or youtube PrintScreen works really always.

Screenshots are not so difficult anyway. To get a whole video is another story. Youtube videos remain in Temporary Internet Files, so if you want, you can find and save them as flv videos. (Or there are lots of free tools in internet to download a youtube video, so it's not a problem).
FOX videos are stream videos, they don't remain in Temporary Internet Files (bad, bad files!). To get those you'd need some special programs like SnagIt - to catch a video from screen. (Don't know how to get them otherwise.)

mereva, you know something really cool! Secret buttons ... I never thought about anything like that. I can't even remember what kind of file it was - something produced by a funeral home about my brother's friend. It's been quite a while back.

And downloading YouTube videos. I've seen those How To videos and it looks so straight forward, but I'm doing something wrong. I've tried a couple different loaders but I've not been successful.

(I'm the computer geek in my family! Razz Razz We're a sad lot!)

Try software on dvdvideosoft.com to get Youtube videos: "Free Studio Manager'...(version number), you actually can install only needed parts of this big program like Free YouTube Download or/and Free YouTube to mp3 Converter (if you like to have only sound, not the entire video.) With this program you should only put a youtube link into window and press enter(ok/proceed...) - and you'll get this video. Done. Ready. No need to do anything else.

(And I'm the computer fool in my family... No )

Thanks, mereva. I'll have to mark this one and give it a try when I have some serious downtime.

But I have a question about your 'computer fool' comment. Are you saying that you know all this stuff, and you're still on the bottom of the KnowHow totem pole, or were you just being humble? What I wouldn't give to have computer brainiacs around me! As it is my parents will call me to ask something like "Now, how do I attach this picture to my email ?" Razz

You're welcome!
And I'm really(!) a 'computer fool' in my family. Even my little baby (actually not so little anymore Very Happy ) understands way more in computers than I do.
My 'problem' is though that they are not that interested to help me with my Bones-fan-obsession. ("Mama went completely craaaazyyyyy..." Very Happy ) So when I need some pc information, I google it. In different languages, if necessary.

May be, we should create a new topic somewhere to discuss screenshots/video captures/programs...the technical aspect of fandom. Very Happy Nobody knows everything, but together we could solve some problems. Smile

Oh, I'd love it. Links to tutorials and how-to videos and just all around good computer info!
