Okay, I waded through the FBI's compensation plan and came up with this: Booth actually should make good money for a government employee. Special Agents start out as GS10, Step 1 employees and advance to GS13s in non-supervisory assignments. Assuming Booth is a GS13 (highest level below a non-field supervisory position) without going into the whole step/scale process, then with base and locality pay he's making $86,927. If he's really a GS13, step 6 (SAC lead for the DC MCU and Liaison to the Jeffersonian?) then he's making $101,416. My theory on this is that he took the step down in apartments because Parker is getting older, I assume he contributes to Parker's support (No way Rebecca let's him get away with NOT contributing and Booth would insist anyway, it's his kid after all), so I figure he's shelling out more for Parker and trying to build his son's college fund. Moving from a townhouse in Georgetown to an apartment over a liquor store in Adams Morgan makes sense then.

Oh and also I'm kind of waiting for Brennan to buy that big house and the plasma screen TV so Booth can be over there all the time. Because, you know, it's understandable. No need to ask.

Again, you and me both. You know she's buying that once she and Booth hook-up and decide to start birthin' babies, and not before.

OMG! All the times you missed my inferences and wound up using Google and that one you get?! Oh and the woman who played Mammie (the slave attending Scarlett) was Hattie McDaniel, a great actress despite the material she was stuck with.

Actually, that's more or less what I figured, too. I have a WIP where he says that. But he's been in at least 3 places over the course of the show. The place Brennan comes by in S1 (when Tessa's there) is NOT the townhouse they show the outside of in PitH (right before the bathroom scene); and of course, neither of them is the place over the liquor store.

Actually, Brennan may have been in as many places, if you compare the apartment in the Pilot (very different, hall outside her door is not the same as what we see later for starts) to the place in Two Bodies to what we see in S2 & 3...

Sharp eyes. I knew her places were different between S1 and S2/S3, I hadn't really paid attention to it in S4 because we've spent so much time at Booth's place. It's perfectly reasonable to think she's moved as she became more affluent - her first appartment is exactly what I'd expect of her since at the start of the show she was a famous Forensic Anthropologist and her book had just taken off - she didn't even have an acocuntant until Booth told her to get one. So the place we see in S2/S3 is definitely a step up.

Nice spin! Sounds so much better! As for paying attention, well, when you sit and watch the DVDs as much as I have, you start picking up that kind of detail--right along with things like (ahem) costume changes. I could probably give a dissertation or at least a decent essay on that topic.

Hey, I resemble that remark! Just because I know veritably nothing about anything current doesn't mean that I should be clueless about one of thE best movies ever made in thE best year for movies ever. (Aside: that wasn't Mammie's line, that was Prissy's line. Don't you recall how she's acting like she knows everything, but when it's time, she freaks and screams. Oh, man, that scream!)

And I don't miss soo many references ... do I?

When did we see him first escort her by the small of her back, aside from the credits? As far as Booth is concerned, you have to know the man is smart. I mean, he's an FBI Agent, so obviously he has to have a degree and some kind of experience. He's the street smarts and Brennan's the book smarts though, but sometimes it's like they try and hit us over the head with that.

I completely agree with you, 100%.

It's been fun going back and reading through the posts - I've learned a lot! I'm so glad you guys notice things like his office and his job. It saves me the trouble of having to research it myself!

D'OH! You're right, that was Butterfly McQueen, not Hattie. Man am I slipping - though in my defense I haven't seen that movie in like 10 years or more.

Nah, you know I just love giving you crap Sherry , and when you do miss something it's usually pretty inside baseball - and really that's a compliment to you, I just assume you're on the same wavelenght as I am so I don't bother to translate. See?

You guys... this conversation was fascinating. Seriously. I think I love Booth even more now after reading it. Aw. Bless him.

Gosh, I am missing this show. I spend a ridiculous amount of time searching out fanfic that will make me swoon. A ridiculous amount of time.

The whole database thing isn't such a bad idea, but does definitely sound like a huge task.

I've loved reading and helping to clear up things re:Booth and his past/future and whatever. It's probably sad that we all know and care this much about him and this show, not to mention Brennan as well. But whatever, I don't care.

We know he's a great father and all but it also kind of contrasts because we never really get to see that happen. So maybe in S5, more Parker? Not all the time obviously, but Ty is adorable as it is and all, so seeing him around a little bit more might be good. And also, to maybe see some Bren/Parker interaction? If for nothing more than to back up all the fics that have him totally loving her. I mean, it's bad enough everyone and their brother confuses BB as a couple, but if Booth's own kid were to be like "Daddy, do you love Bones? Because the way you talk about her is the way my friend's dad talks about his mom. You know..."
