Now, I really must be heading off to bed so I can earn the pittance the county gives for jury duty. If he scares you again, dear, just remind him that I'm armed for bear and all that. And that you've taken your meds already.

Okay, okay, I yield to the alpha females in the room. I wasn't going to win anyway. Night my Queen, have fun with Jury duty - are we hoping to get a case, to get out of it, or to be left in the room watching TV and eating donuts? Last time out I caught a case, armed robbery, it was pretty interesting.

And donuts? Boy, you must live in a decent county! They don't feed us--say you get less per day or something. Anyway, they excused us quite early today, which I was happy about (along with the rest of the room). One case was settled without trial and the other decided they wanted a bench judgement. Funniest thing was, I was one of the last out of the room and the attendant is hissing into the phone, "But I just released them!" Guess someone changed their minds

Too funny. I got stuck as an alternate on my last time out. Then one of the juror's got sick so I had to actually step in and do the job on the second day. whoop-de-freakin' do. $32 a day, stale donuts and bad coffee - trust me you aren't missing anything unless you've got teeth that can chew through concrete the donuts aren't a plus. (though they were passable if you dunked them in the swill that passed for coffee).
