Re: Season 5 wishlist...
That's right, there's always something there, just below the surface and it's so much fun when he lets it out in controlled bursts, but it's even more fun when he gives it some lead and let's it play for a few. Witness SE01 1x13 The Woman in the Garden, the scene where Booth slams the Ortez into the wall, jams his gun in his mouth, you can hear the click as he pulls the hammer back, the look in David's eyes was priceless, a crazy, out of control look. You know Ortez was pissing himself right then. What's more impressive though is right after that as he's walking away and he turns, his gun hand comes flying up and the barrel is pressed right against Ortez' forehead. The look in his eyes then, controlled, cold, calculating - not the primal beast he released before, this one is the killing machine look, the one that could do Ortez without blinking, without remorse - that is way scarier than even the beast, that's the kind of Dark Booth that leaves a guy jumping at small sounds in the night. The first one, the beast, that's all about passion and anger. The second one, the machine? That's all about dispassionate killing, that's the implacable force, the dark angel, the one that can't be reasoned with - if that Booth shows up, kiss your ass goodbye - I LOVE Dark Booth!!!dawnsfire wrote:Me likey Dark Booth.
What's not to like? And Booth is a violent man--just watch how often he comes close to losing it in S1. He just has excellent control for the most part.
Re: Season 5 wishlist...
Seriously, after reading all your ideas, I think S5 is going to have to work hard to compare
.
If it turns out to be utter rubbish, will you all please get together and write an epic alternative S5?!
If they're not going to say it to each other for now, I would settle for an admittance of love to one of their friends. 'I love him Ange' will do me fine. At this point, I need it spelled out and confirmed to me explicitly on screen by someone, anyone.
I'd like Angela to not be as sex-obsessed as in S4. Give the girl some proper storylines. I would love to see a Cam/Hodgins flirtation too, but there's no way they'll go there. It would be very interesting though!

Re: Season 5 wishlist...
Honestly at this point, I'm almost afraid of whether or not there will actually be any admittance. Brennan's pretty much admitted it to herself what with the writing of that book and all, and she realizes that she actually does kind of wonder what it would be like with him, but this whole "does he or does he not remember" will kind of throw her for a loop and make her compartmentalize AGAIN. Booth, being himself, will try and pull her out of that shell, but you know...with these writers, that could literally take until the finale.
Which isn't what I want. I mean, I've learned by now to not bank on what I'd like to see, because either A-The show does not compare or B-The show is actually better than what I might have written/done. I'd just like to see SOMETHING happen between them before, say, midseason. Couldn't you just see them arguing and one of them just slipping up and kind of revealing what they've been trying to keep back? Well, I can anyway. Something like the interrogation room scene in Con Man where Booth was like "No, Bones, answer MY question!"....because seeing Booth that worked and charged up was kind of hot.
And I'm all for Dark Booth, by the way. It's one of the reasons I could totally see him going after whoever may or may not have taken Brennan (and, admittedly Sweets as well. I like that scenario). He's in control, but he's got that edge, the one where he's fully in control of what he's doing but if the person he's after makes one wrong move he'll be past the point of no return.

Midseason at least. Definitely. But, I have this awful feeling, that they could drag it out until next season, now they know they have the 2 seasons to work with.
I do love a bit of worked up Booth. *fans self*. I'm trying to remember if there was much Dark!Booth in S4. I can only really remember lots of Goofy!Booth and Pretendingtobedumb!Booth. Apart from in Con Man, that is.
I'm not banking on anything this season, like you said. EITB pretty much blew away any hopes of that. My main hope for S5 is that it's planned better.
Parts of S4 seemed rushed and ill thought out. Lack of continuity was a big shame - that could have been due to the stand-alone type of episode - but there must be ways to address it so it's not so glaring. I don't want HH to say anything like 'they'll be in bed together by the end of the season', because I think they laid a big trap for themselves with that one.
- Spoiler:
- I actually think the 'no hooking-up' line he has spun this time is far better, because my expectations are low.

Re: Season 5 wishlist...
What made me so aggravated wasn't that they didn't get together and actually sleep together, it's that we were lead that way for so long; Hart said it, David and Emily did interviews as well as some of the other cast, and there was that whole photo spread/interview with Demily on the whole thing in TV Guide. It was like we were lied to.
Anyway, there was a tiny bit of Dark Booth this season...oh, and Fire in the Ice when he was out there trying to get the blood and was pushing people around. I do think we should see him lose control a little bit though, loosen up and kind of learn to let go of some of the pent up angst and suffering. TBH, I'm really hoping we get to meet his grandpa, or even in his father, just do he can finally set some of that straight and let it go. Although, I kind of want Brennan to be the one to yell at him, simply because it would be nice to have him (Booth) hear what she REALLY thinks of him instead of all the side comments.
Maybe even seeing the Gravedigger trial? Though I don't know if they'd do that, but it would be interesting to see. I'd like to see a return to the drama because while I love funny, giddy Booth...it's nothing compared to him when he's worked up and fighting for Brennan or Parker (or both, but I really don't wanna see that because then he'd probably kill anyone within spitting distance and we'd probably NEVER get BB)....
I just want to see something, and not Hart hiding behind that two year window he has for something to happen. Because if we don't get some of the UST resolved before midseason or at least S5...my hair will be going gray. There's only so much you can do before it gets repetitive.

Re: Season 5 wishlist...
Exactly MG. Something needs to happen before mid-season. It's not realistic for it not to. And you can't go grey at 19. You have to at least wait til you're 31, like me.
(let me tell you, it's depressing
).
This is SO true. It's the lying that annoyed the hell out of me. I don't care how they spin it. They lied.
I think maybe they'll use this season as a way of letting them work out their issues? Like you say - Grandpa Booth and Bad Dad Booth are things I think we need to see.
A better balance between fun Booth and dark Booth is what we want then. I'd like to see Brennan kicking some ass again as well. Not all the time... Just a bit more often. It's always pretty amusing when she does.
Could the 100th episode be a big shippy one, do you reckon? Or do you think we shouldn't expect too much?!

Re: Season 5 wishlist...
I want the 100th episode to mean something. I'd like it to be shipwise, but when would that fall during the season?
Every season has kind of had an underlying theme, even if it wasn't really intended; S1 was when they got to know each other, and there was a hint of the attraction there, S2 was when we kind of got to see them in the swing of things and Booth kind of started to realize certain things like the risks he'd take for her and why, S3 was I think (even if they didn't say it) when he pretty much realized he loved her and kind of resolved himself to it. S4 was when Brennan grew and, well, "firgured it out."
Which is why I'm thinking something pretty much has to happen this season.

BING-Fuckin-O!!! (pardon my french) That encapsulates my issues with that episode exactly.MoonlightGardenias wrote:What made me so aggravated wasn't that they didn't get together and actually sleep together, it's that we were lead that way for so long; Hart said it, David and Emily did interviews as well as some of the other cast, and there was that whole photo spread/interview with Demily on the whole thing in TV Guide. More Dark Booth - "The Skull in the Sculpture", when he slams the artists into the table for crudely hitting on Angela. "The Con Man In The Meth Lab" when he's asking Brennan if she thinks he's a loser? That was Dark Booth, and again when he's dealing with Jared at his party and then punches the bus shelter? Most definitely Dark Booth. Little glimpses, to be sure, but they're there. Also "The Girl in the Mask", not so much Dark Booth as Intense Booth - which is my second favorite Booth. Goofy and dumbass are way, way down on my list.Anyway, there was a tiny bit of Dark Booth this season...oh, and Fire in the Ice when he was out there trying to get the blood and was pushing people around. Agree about the trial, especially if it segues into a hunt for the accomplice. Also agree about Booth fighting for Brennan and Parker - that would be excellent shipping right there, get an episode where he's fighting for both of them all out and Brennan realizes that she's as important to him as Parker.Maybe even seeing the Gravedigger trial? Amen sister, A-freakin'-men. Wash-Rinse-Repeat is for hair, not Bones.I just want to see something, and not Hart hiding behind that two year window he has for something to happen. That encapsulates my issues with that episode exactly.
EXACTLY. I think the episode worked in theory, because if we had known that was how it would go all along, I would not have had a problem with that. Well, that was the issue but also the fact that Bones was not the only show that dealt with hallucinations/things that weren't quite real in their finale either.
Dark Booth as Intense Booth - which is my second favorite Booth. Goofy and dumbass are way, way down on my list.
I don't mind Goofy Booth once in a while, because he does need to let loose once in a while and all that. I get that. But they make him look like some stupid lughead cop sometimes, and that's just not the man he is. The one Brennan denounces Anthropology for, that's who he is. We need to see that.

I do think we should maybe have the trial, and you're right about the accomplice. That's the thing with this show though, dropped storylines or not going as far with something as they could/should. And as long as he's not forced to choose who to save, I think the whole Brennan and Parker scenario could work out freaking perfectly. As dramatic as that sounds, but sometimes with those two it takes something dramatic to stop them from dancing around the issue.
Speaking of dancing...can we see that? I want to see them dance. No real reason, but you know...just a little something that's not quite light-hearted but not quite serious either. Just them and he hears some song and is sort of like "Come on, dance with me, Bones."
Re: Season 5 wishlist...
There isn't too much about this show that gets me upset, but there were several episodes last year that didn't really do much for me. Even the finale was fine with me!
Two scenes that immediately come to mind that I really liked were: 1) Booth coming apart when Brennan thinks he's a loser! (My favorite moment of the season!) And 2) when Brennan and Booth are at the bar and she admits his being able to put stuff together is his "gift" - and the look of satisfaction on his face. (I know that's way off from what it really was, but you know the scene I'm talking about.)
I've been reading throughout the afternoon, enjoying the ideas being bantied about. I'm thinking that this memory loss of Booth's/reconciling himself to his dream, ought to just drive him off the reservation for a while (don't shoot me for this, but when Angelus showed up on "Angel" it was always hot!!) Brennan could find out what he's capable and realize that she is/has to be his stabilizing influence.
(Maybe I should go back and just watch Angel, S3!)

I'd just like to see them doing small things, connecting as two people. But that moment when it clicks with at least one of them that by technical standards they do all the things a couple do minus kissing and well, the obvious one sex...will be priceless. Or maybe not.
Sometimes I think I set my hopes too high.

You know something else that we never get is them alone, and I mean alone, not with each other, not with anyone. Maybe see them at their apartment and somehow knowing that they're thinking about the other. That'd be cool. I don't know how they'd do it though. Maybe have one of them talking to themself - I do it all the time when no one's around to sign the committal papers!! Nothing hokey though, not like a full-blown hallucination. Just a glimpse of it.
