Is limewire safe?

Post by 19ana89 on Thu Aug 20, 2009 7:42 am

I was thinking of downloading the free version, but I was wondering if it was safe or not. I know some things like "zwinky" isn't safe at all, but Is limewire?

thanks!

I've never had an issue with either limewire or frostwire. I've used both, and they worked fine for me.

I haven't had too many problems, you just have to be careful in the files you choose. There are many fake ones. But it hasn't screwed up my computer yet *knock on wood*

As for legal issue, that I don't know.

I use Azureus. Its goood. And it usually depends what you download for the program to be safe.
I have had problems with Shareaza ja BearShare. These I would not reccomend. BUt i have heard that limewire is good and safe.

I've never had a problem with it. You just have to know how to use. But I've never had my computer get a virus from it.

you can also use Azureus and BitTorrent, but you have to go through like 5 steps just to get your song. Whereas on Limewire it just opens up (for me it gets immediately saved to iTunes) I don't have to go through 6 steps to get the song. But if you go back to the Non-Bones main page and look for the thread by me called "Does anybody have?" and look for the first post by Dawnsfire and there's a link to a website that I have been using recently that easy and it doesn't require 6 steps.

It just depends on how savvy you are and how much you're willing to go through just to get a song. The good thing about bitTorrent is you can download whole albums at once. On Limewire you have to download song by song.

have you ever used anything like bitTorrent snoop? I was just wondering if you have, do you like it better or worse than limewire?

I only ever had problems with my computer when using limewire. Since getting rid of limewire, I have not had any problems. It's entirely too easy to pick up nasty things from. But I guess if you're going to use file sharing programs you've got to expect to get nasty bugs from them. Use at your own risk. I just know I would never in a million years go back to it.
