Exercise/Fitness

Post by willgirl on Thu Sep 10, 2009 2:08 am

I don't think there is a thread like this here yet! I thought it would be a good place to talk about fitness. Do you workout? What works for you? What doesn't? Anyone out there trying to achieve some goals? Tips, tricks and more would be awesome. Or alternatively, do you hate all forms of fitness? lol!

I tried to comment on your status at stupid facebook but it wasn't going to let me so I'll just say here: My muscles and I have been mortal enemies since April. They take great joy in reminding me of this everyday. One day I hope that I will not be in pain, but who knows.

Yes, my muscles have been hurting in the last two days because of a killer workout. Well, I'm still standing so I guess that still counts. I hear you are doing an awesome workout. How's that going?

it's going... slowly... down 22lbs and over 40inches so I should shut up and suck it up. Oh and I still hate every minute of it.

i don't really workout, like I need to lose weight. I don't eat a lot, but my vice is definitely soda... =] but I do gymnastics, dance and my friend and I go roller blading 3 times a week. most of my conditioning comes from gymnastics though, they really kick your butt with that stuff. =]

I walk.... ALOT!! Take my girls (dogs) for a walk nearly every day for at least 40mins.

I haven't been able to since Monday as I just had operation number 8 on my ankle and I'm not allowed to bear weight on it for a month.

@Ella: Yea, soda is the killer. I cut it out and several months later I can't even drink it now.

@Phoebs: That's awesome. I'm 10 pounds down and not sure about inches. I'm losing it in the waist and boobs, but not anywhere else! And yea, it's not my fav thing to do in the world.

@Tan: Sorry to hear about your ankle. That sucks. And your doggies must be feeling sad that they can't go on those nice walks with you!

And I have a question for anyone. What stretching exercises do you do? And do you stretch before and after a workout?

I read an article that said you should only stretch afterwards and I have been, but I feel like I need to be stretching more. Anybody got a good stretch that works the kinks out?

@A2B: I read somewhere that using weights while walking is bad for you, especially the ankle ones.

I know. But I'm weak. So weak. I am trying to cut it to one can a day and then to one can a month and so on.

Never stretch before a workout. Thats a big no, unless you're dancing or doing gymnastics. But never stretch before running or walking. But workouts that require flexibility, you want to stretch beforehand of course.

What kind of kinks? Honestly, my stretching is intense for the normal person, but I know a lot of good stretches. If you are looking to stretch for relaxation, you should take up yoga!Smile

you can use ankle weights and do leg lifts, those are hard.

Depends on what 'kinks' you're trying to iron out! Very Happy I just do one every morning in the shower... touch my toes and hold it for 30secs. Helps your lower back as well as the backs of the legs.

Oh, and the blood rushing to the head is a bit of a..... 'head rush'.... HAHAHAHA

I gym it about 2 twice a week. usually too busy to go more.
Since ive turned vegan dont have too worry toooo much about junk food, but i do still eat some junk every now and then.
Digging out on site helps me stay fit, I think im too freakishly muscly in the arm region (for a girl anyway)
Lower region is always the problem Mad
Do maybe have a few extra winter kilos to get rid of before summer!
