I was home. Watching it on TV, , and I couldn't believe what was happening. But after the attack on the Trade center towers and the pentagon, I remember grudgingly saying that whoever planned that was some sort of evil genius to be able to pull it off.

No, just stupid American president who knew ahead of time about the attacks and did nothing about it and then continued to read to children while 3,000+ American citizens died. A brain dead monkey could have pulled it off.

I was in 6th grade and I was walking to lunch after PE and my friend in upper school came and told me what was going on and I was really scared. I was so scared, I made myself sick and my mom drove me and my sisters home and we watched it on TV. It was so horrible, I couldn't believe it...

At the actual moment, I was probably on my way to work, since I heard about it after I got there. On a college campus and someone called, looking for my supervisor. She then asked why we were still at work...for some reason, the medical side of campus stayed open that day, while the rest closed. I know I spent the rest of my day doing an absolute minimum of work, fixated on the news trickling in.
The woman I worked with asked me if I knew anyone there; I started to say no, but remembered my cousin had moved there. God, that was almost the worst part of the day! (he was fine, btw, not near the Towers). I know I spent the rest of the week metaphorically looking over my shoulder since downtown Chicago was visible. Never mind that there were no planes all week. Hard to convince your subconscious sometimes...

I was in 9th grade in my english class...my teacher was crying and lots of students were upset because relatives worked at the towers or in the area. my school closed early that day because its close to the largest oil refinery in the area and no one knew what was going on. my mom picked us up...took us to subway and then to walmart to pick out some games we could play. we werent allowed to watch tv that day.

I remember that I was in sewing class (it was the end of second period). I was in seventh grade and I was walking to the bathroom when I saw my history teacher running into rooms telling people what happened. Not understanding fully, I waited until the next class when he turned on the television to watch it. We sat there for the whole 40 minutes, just watching. No one spoke, no did anything. It was pure amazement. At 10:28, I watched the one tower fall to the ground. It was just so messed up. Living in NJ, 45 minutes from NYC, so many people went to NY for work. My history teacher's parents worked there and he was desperately trying to contact his parents.

When I went home I just remember not being able to drag my eyes from the TV. And I friggin' hate watching the news. It was just so surreal. I heard the stories of people standing on the beaches on the other, other side of my town watching it all with a perfect view. It was just so fucked up.

My small township lost 11 people. That's a lot. I can only imagine places closer to NY.

I hope America learned its lesson in intelligence and how to react and use preventive measures. Oh wait, they didn't.

I was at work. Our courier came in and told us that a plane had just flown into the WTC. We all just thought it was an accident, until the other plane hit. Then we were all just listening to the radio for the updates. And needless to say, not much work got done that day.

I was in 1st grade. Didn't know a thing about it. But, we had a large Muslim population in our neighborhood, and some people were assaulting them. So, my parents brought me and my sister to a Muslim Mass, so that we would know that Muslims didn't commit the crime, but certian people, who just happened to be Muslim, did. Then, in second grade, an old alumni of my school came in and told us about what had happened. (He was teaching in a school near the WTC at the time of their demise.)

Your parents sound very smart--a lot of people forget to make that separation when feelings are high.
