Flashforward, Anyone?

Post by Kasper on Sat Sep 26, 2009 10:53 am

I know it's on at the same time as Bones and everything, but I'll be watching this show online.

Anywho, I read the book first after finally finding it in a bookstore. The novel itself was a very interesting topic, but I felt that it had so much more to offer. Like I finished it was like "Oh, that's it?"

So when I heard about the television series I had to see it (same way I heard about Bones, curious, yes curious indeed). The characters are changed to grasp a different audience, but they've put an interesting view on it. I really hope to see more out of the series, but I've promised myself not to get too into shows since they canceled Threshold, Greg the Bunny and similar shows after only one season, if that.

However, if plot twisty, sci-fi, mystery type shows are totally your thing, I suggest that you try it out.

I miss Threshold too! Oh, man, I thought I was the only person on the planet watching that week to week.

As for FF, I actually like the book better. The show has me intrigued (and it has Penny on it! And Mr. Zulu!), and I do love the idea of gazing upon the hotness of J. Fiennes on my screen on a weekly basis but...Meh, the premiere? Meh. We'll see what happens next.

(for the record, I said the same about the first three episodes of Fringe and now I want to marry that show).

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but it's definitely on my list. Not that I need a new show or anything...lol. But I actually saw the first previews in the movie theatre, and it intrigued me. My sister watched it and loved it. Hopefully Monday I'll get a chance to catch it. I didn't know there was a book, though...is it the same title? I'll have to pick it up.

I watched it last night, interesting, hope they can keep up with some good quality television.
I very cautiously watch each new show that comes along, and try not to get too attached right away, ever since FOX tore my heart out fucking over Firefly. That's what got me online talking on forums in the first place.
Fringe has me hooked, as you can tell by my sig, Bones and House are necessary as air, I'm really getting into Defying Gravity, and of course, Hockey season is upcoming, so I'll be happy this winter.

I watched it as well and enjoyed the premise. I didn't even know there WAS a book. LOL.

Book's the same title but the premise is quite changed. That's probably why I didn't enjoy the premiere as much -I was waiting for something different.

Book author is Robert Sawyer.

I enjoyed the book but as I said it was just... over. It was intriguing though and I certainly couldn't put it down.

I'm just curious to see what happens more so with the little twist that they added in the premiere. And Fiennes is pretty damn hot. And Harold is an FBI agent no longer searching for White Castle.

Though after the flashforward I liked the scene of carnage. Just imagine standing there and seeing it. It would just be like "whoa wtf." It also seems like instead of CERN they might be going for Stanford's Linear Accelerator because Simcoe's from Stanford.

Okay I'm done rambling.

Oh, you're right about Stanford. Hmmm. That could very well be true. But you know what? I don't think they're gonna make it so much about official science -meaning, I think the guys in the masks (in the flash) and the guy who walked around the stadium might be involved in some "unofficial" or underground science project. At least, they seem to be setting it up for them to be bad guys, not straight-laced academics. Anyway, we'll see.

Also, I'm gonna miss the whole practical immortality part. I hope they bring it, but I'm getting the feeling that they might just put the billionaire behind the experiment that caused the flash...And now, I'm rambling. Razz

It starts here tmw night and I've liked the previews I've seen so far. I don't know if it's aimed at my demographic or not so I'll give it a go and see where it ends up.

Finally been able to watch... hmmm, very interesting premise. Having not read the book I don't know the comparisons, but I think it'll be interesting enough to hold my attention.

Who is that masked man?

That, I'm afraid, is the question. It's not on the book so I've got nothing. :?:

Also, I'm stuck in Philly intl. so I've probably got even less than some of you. Anyone watched tonight?
