Re: The Venting Thread

Last summer night. Where the heck did this season go? Oh, yeah. School until the end of June, three week writing camp, a week at home, a week counseling at church, a week at the beach, then summer reading/algebra 2 packet.

What happened to all the plans we made? All the fun we were supposed to have? How did we suddenly get so busy?

Plus there's that tiny issue of the rest of my summer work that I need to do. It's going to be a late night, isn't it? thumbsdown

Why on Labor Day in America, do we all have to work???
I think everything should be shut down, if it's truly to be Labor Day.

So, today I find out that the reason I didn't get my Priority Club points from my hotel night in Savannah is because I'm listed as a 'no show'. wtf? I signed in, they gave me a freaking room, they charged my credit card, but I apparently wasn't there! So now I'm waiting to hear back to see if I have to actually call someone and bitch to get my points...only me, I swear! Trust me, I'm a single mom with no money...if I wasn't going to use the room, I definitely would've canceled it...

Oh, and some idiot Americans are going to burn copies of the Quran and hide behind the first amendment to do it. I guess freedom of religion means nothing. Just another reason I feel the Articles of Confederation and the Bill of Rights need a massive overhaul. Seriously, if some Christian nut had blown up a building in the name of God, would we be burning the Bible?? Not all Muslims are terrorists, and if they are American citizens they should be free to practice whatever religion they believe in. I will say, however, that I have never read the Quran, but I doubt that it says they have the right to kill other human beings, or that they support terrorism. If they do, somebody let me know...until then, I will remain appalled. It's like Nazi Germany...burning books and practicing religious persecution.

Okay sorry...rant over.

I hear the fire trucks going down the highway and I feel terrible for being such a witch about the new rules regarding the staircases at school. Someone's house or business is burning down, and all I can do is gripe about my own life.

That puts things in perspective.

You know that scene from Cast Away, where Tom Hanks knocks out his tooth with an ice skate, I am very tempted to re-enact that tonight, but lucky (or not?) I don't have an ice skate. I'm dying here I think.

@fly: Ooh, don't get me started! I cannot believe that in some people's minds, that's the way to make some sort of statement. It only makes Americans look like how terrorists think you look! Argh! Burning books of any kind is a no no in my book but this is just stupid.

You want to stand up against the injustices of the world? Teach your children how not to hate against something they don't understand. As you said Fly, not all Muslims are terrorists just like not all Christians are good, kindhearted people. Generalization can be a terrible thing.

America is supposed to be the better country, yet we practice hate instead of tolerance. We practice war instead of peace. We practice 'an eye for an eye' instead of 'do unto others'. And instead of supporting our government, we protest and fight it. How does that make anything better? All it does is tear our great nation apart. Whatever happened to 'United we stand'?

On what should be the most solemn day of the year, we had fights and protests. Why? Because we can, I guess. Because some people are just angry and bitter and horrible. Because sadly, some sadistic people actually enjoy strife. It just makes me so sad.

I feel like the whole world has been put under some sort of Beiber related curse where millions of people are now worshiping a pre-pubescent teen? It's seriously confusing....

If I may, I would like to equate him to Jonathan's character in the S4 episode of Buffy titled Superstar. Razz

He is from a town that is really close to me, so the Bieber hysteria is insane here, and I can attest that he is apparently, real. I wondered the same thing myself at one point as he doesn't seem to really be maturing. at. all.

Exactly! It seems like he's been around forever, and yet he doesn't age.
