Sure we know brennan could have just been cold to him and drove him crazy. Booth was probably just starting out at the "special agent position" he probably had an ego the size of texas and a lot to prove. He could have still been getting over gambling and his son/rebecca stuff. Bones....well she's a whole other can of emotional/baggage goodness. I really can't even imagine how cold and socially awkward she was before her bff angela softened her up.

I know we've gone over this a billion times already. but...i just don't understand what happens in this episode and possible the one after it to make them even THINK about dating other people. I just don't get it. Unless brennan sort of kick starts the entire thing by going out with hacker to prove to herself that she has feelings for booth. But at this point it seems like booth is the one that needs to do the proving so i'm just all sorts of confused and it's killing me that we wont know for a long time.

I was thinking that too, i mean how could the episode be so big, then they take such a huge step back, but then i had an idea!

What if they both had a self revelation in the 100th, where Booth realises he has always loved Bones all along, and Bones realises that she loves Booth(either even more than she does now, or she realises her feelings are love). So this leaves them in a pretty bad position, they both love each other, but Booth cant see how Bones feel, Bones cant see how Booth feels.

Then they have the reunion and they have to pretend to be husband and wife, but this is different than the coma dream, this is real. Everything they feel is real, everything they do and say is real. I that that they maybe get a bit close to each other, they have to kiss to keep up their disguise etc. I think that when the night is over, instead of admitting their feelings, they run from each other. Not because they are scared but because they are afraid to get to close t the person they love, they are afraid that if they let themselves fall for each other any more they will be hurt. So this is why they date people, to try and move on, Bones calls hacker, then Booth goes out with Klein. It is like they feel they need to move on, before their feelings get to bad, the freak at the thought of "losing so much self control".

But i think they will both realise nothing can compare to each other, and in the end they admit how they feel.

Well anyway just a thought, and i think it fits in with the general story line.

You know, I think you may be on to something here. There is something from the finale I forgot about. The quote towards the end about "you see two people and you think they should be together.....maybe you'll break their heart maybe they'll break your heart...the burdens that allow us to fly." Perhaps after the 100th booth and brennan are aware of THEIR feelings (as you said) and not the others. They are both fully aware of the burden that brings. For bones, loving booth means opening her up to suffering...carrying around this burden that he may not love her because she is unlovable. For booth, loving bones carries an equally big burden. She could freak out and run...it could ruin the best thing he has...blah blah.

Remember at the end, bones deleted her writing right after she said "burdens...that allow us to fly..." as if the mere idea of such a thing was ridiculous. Her dating hacker and him dating catherine is a way to try and release those burdens...but they realize the burdens are necessary and good.

Also, something I never thought about is the death of the queen bee. You are deff on to something there. They are pretending to be married. It's as real as the book or his dream and that probably terrifies them. After the 100th they get their AHA moment...only to be completely freaked after death of a queen bee.

It's probably not even like they have a falling out. It's just a silent thing....they both retreat at the same time.
