Haha, I love DC. I don't live there, but I live close and I visit quite often. I just wish they still gave the FBI tours...olivia wrote:I live in DC, what do you want to know? I think it's pretty nice, lots to do, four lovely seasons....plus FBI headquarters and the Jeffersonian are here

Re: What is D.C and L.A like??
Never been to D.C.
LA is huge. Clean in some parts, not so clean in some others and dangerous in others. (it really is quite big). The glitzy parts are fun to go for a walk and window shop (or shop if you've got the $$). The food's fantastic: there's people from all over (mexican, corean, indian, japanese, italian) pretty much everywhere, and thus, food from all over. Good clubs, if you're into that. Some really good museums. The weather is usually great. Some of the beaches are nice (some are quite smelly)... I don't know. That's kind of it. It's a huge sprawling town where the sun's always bright and nobody walks. But if you drive, mind you, the traffic is horrible and the drivers in general resemble rabid monkeys on a suicide run.
Hope that helps a bit.

DC is a walking town, definitely. And the Metro goes just about everywhere, which is nice, because driving can sometimes be hazardous to your health, lol. Lots of museums there too...and many are free. And so much history. Really something for everyone there. Though now I really wanna go...I may have to take a trip down there some Saturday. Oh, perhaps to the Cherry Blossom Festival...

Oh nononononono. From someone who's lived in Boston. It's much, much, much worse. They make London look good. They make NY look good! It's that bad.
To any other Los Angelinos reading: Chill, y'all. 'Cause I've never owned a car, so there's a lot of insanity I've had to put up with as a pedestrian (added to the insanity of being in my relatives'/friends' cars).
Also the metro system kinda sucks (unless you're in Santa Monica. Hello, Blue Bus!).

Oh, and it's not necessarily the drivers...the Boston streets are just...off. I've been in many cities, (Baltimore, DC, NYC, etc.), but they have the weirdest streets ever. lol

HA! If I had the money (or the time, OMG!where's time going?!), believe you me, I'd go. Sadly, I am stuck between university and...oh, wait, more university. No vacation time this year.
Boston Streets are... er... historical. LOL But at least, you know, the sub will get you pretty much anywhere.

That's a good description. I used to live in Pasadena (just outside of L.A.) and would drive into L.A. a lot. Its great, tons of culture, tons of stuff to do, especially if you like films/tv and the arts. (Before I found a regular job, I did "paid audience work"- basically they pay you $8 an hour to sit in the audience and laugh while they're filming sitcoms. Only in L.A.!
The weather is hot and very dry, not humid like Miami, and it barely ever rains. (And when it does everyone freaks out!
L.A. is great, I wish I could move back there.

Re: What is D.C and L.A like??
DAM it sounds heaps fun!!!!!
I have been to America several times, as we have family and friends over there, but i unfortunately have not been able to go to either DC LA, but my parents have, which i am not happy about. I am trying to convince my parents into taking me to Las Vegas for my 21st, and then maybe if i can convince them to do that, i could go to DC!!!
But yeah, i come from Australia, so i was just wondering what it was like, because TV never does a good job at showing you what a place is actually like. I mean lets take Australia for example, we apparently ride kangaroos?? Sydney is supposedly the capitol??? And according to the Simpsons, we are all bogans who live in the middle of no where, and we lack basic english skills. So i thought the safest option would be to ask.
