I have been to America several times, as we have family and friends over there, but i unfortunately have not been able to go to either DC LA, but my parents have, which i am not happy about. I am trying to convince my parents into taking me to Las Vegas for my 21st, and then maybe if i can convince them to do that, i could go to DC!!!

But yeah, i come from Australia, so i was just wondering what it was like, because TV never does a good job at showing you what a place is actually like. I mean lets take Australia for example, we apparently ride kangaroos?? Sydney is supposedly the capitol??? And according to the Simpsons, we are all bogans who live in the middle of no where, and we lack basic english skills. So i thought the safest option would be to ask.

I have never thought that about Australia, and when i was there, I found it very much like the US (I think because of big open spaces), except everyone was nicer than they are here Very Happy

Glad this helped. You're right of course, about the telly being a bad guide. But don't worry: I don't think anyone actually thinks that of aussies. I know I don't (and I do watch lots of telly).

LOL that is good, my friend went to Germany, and they were talking to some french guys, who pretty much told them, Australians sounded bogan, and they got the impression that Australia was like nothing but desert and bush.

It is actually quite nice, but we will have like 4 seasons in one day, it will be cold, wet and windy in the morning, then by noon it will be boiling hot and sunny, then there will be a thunderstorm in the evening, only to have a freezing cold night. And sometimes it changes from hot to cold to wet, and just keeps going, it is trippy.

LA is huge. Clean in some parts, not so clean in some others and dangerous in others. (it really is quite big). The glitzy parts are fun to go for a walk and window shop (or shop if you've got the $$). The food's fantastic: there's people from all over (mexican, corean, indian, japanese, italian) pretty much everywhere, and thus, food from all over. Good clubs, if you're into that. Some really good museums. The weather is usually great. Some of the beaches are nice (some are quite smelly)... I don't know. That's kind of it. It's a huge sprawling town where the sun's always bright and nobody walks. But if you drive, mind you, the traffic is horrible and the drivers in general resemble rabid monkeys on a suicide run.

Hope that helps a bit.
Sounds like Boston drivers...lol

DC is a walking town, definitely. And the Metro goes just about everywhere, which is nice, because driving can sometimes be hazardous to your health, lol. Lots of museums there too...and many are free. And so much history. Really something for everyone there. Though now I really wanna go...I may have to take a trip down there some Saturday. Oh, perhaps to the Cherry Blossom Festival...
We are going to the Festival again this year...we should make a plan to meet up woman..It's March 27-April 11 this year..So pretty!!!
Oh, that would be fun! Let me know!
Since I will be in NH until the 27th..it will probably be the last weekend it's on. We will be up in NH again for spring break from the 2nd until the 9th I think. I will let you know for sure. We went the last weekend of it last year and it was so pretty. I will have the boys though, so be forewarned!
