Accidentally on Purpose
Accidentally on Purpose
Pain was unbearable. A hard, steady thump centered right in the middle of her head. Keeping her eyes closed, she reached up to massage her temple, hoping to lessen the pain.
Squinting her eyes shut, against the light, she thought back, trying to remember what happened:
It had started out, like any other day. She had gone to work, and had been pieceing together a fifty year old skull. It had been almost complete, and ready for Angela to work her magic, to get a positive identification.
Booth, breezed in, in his normal Booth way. "Hey Bones, got a case." he gave her his grin. He waved a file at her.
"Give me a minute, Booth, I'm almost done."
"Meet you in your office, Bones."
***************************************************************
"So Bones, we're on for drinks tonight, right?" Booth looked at her, as he put his vehicle into reverse. He expertly backed out, and was pulling out of the parking lot.
"Sure, Booth. Founding Father's?"
"No, I've got something else in mind." he grinned at her.
"Yea?"
"You remember, my buddy from Japan?" he asked, and turned a corner.
"Sure," Bones remembered him, she had identified his sister body.
"Well, he sent me a bottle of something special." he looked at her. "You game?"
She looked at him, his smile was killer,"Sure." how could she say no?
***************************************************************
The case they had been working on, was pretty open and close. Everything, was moving along smoothly, no complications, what so ever. Booth, had already arrested a suspect, facts were all in place, leaving no doubt as to the guilt of the suspect.
They both had split from each other, to finish the neccessary paperwork. Brennen was at her desk, finishing up, when Booth called.
"Hey, Booth, just finishing up."
"I'll be over to get you, in twenty." A long time now, Booth had made it a habit, to pick her up in the mornings, bearing fresh coffee, and then dropping her off, in the evenings, sometimes, taking her out for dinner first. It was their thing, as Angela called it.
When Booth breezed in, she was ready. He helped her on with her coat, and pulled her thru the door. "Bones, you hungry, we should eat dinner."
"Founding Father's okay?"
"Sounds great."
****************************************************************
They ate together. They talked, and laughed, enjoying each other's company, completely in tune with each other.
"You ready, Bones? Thought we'd go to your place, tonight."
"Sure, Booth" Brennen smiled at him, as he paid the bill. "Let's go."
*************************************************************
Unlocking the door, Brennen turned to Booth, "So what did he send you, Booth."
"Why saki of course, Bones."
"Saki, huh?" Bones walked into her kitchen, "Have you ever drank Saki, Booth?"
"I have." he answered her.
"So, you know it has a higher volume of alcohol in it."
"Of course, Bones?," He looked up at her from the couch. "Your not chicken are you?"
"I don't know what that means?" she looked at him.
"It means, Bones, are you afraid to drink it?" he looked at her.
"Of course not, Booth, it's rice wine, nothing to be afraid of." she scoffed at him.
"Well, then, bring out the glasses, Bones." and rubbed his hands, together
***************************************************************
An hour later...............................................
"Booth," her speech was slightly slurred. "I think we should stop."
"Okay, Bones, just one more." Booth poured another shot each of them for them.
"A toast." Bones lifted her shot high in the air. Booth lifted his, and waited for her to continue. "To us, the best set of partners, in the whole world." They clinked their glasses and drank. She really felt wonderful, and happy.
"Here, I've got a toast, too." Booth tipped the bottle, and filled their shot glasses again. Brennen lifted her shot, high in the air, and waited, "To us," he said, with a grin, " best partners, and best friends." They clinked their glasses, and threw their drinks back.
"Here's another, Booth." As she picked up the bottle, and spilled more, into their waiting glasses, and some on the table.
"Bones, not so sure that's a good idea, I'm pretty loaded." Booth was looking at her, squinting his eyes, in an effort to keep his focus.
"Just one more, Booth." Brennne giggled, clearly drunk.
"To you, Booth, the only man, I've ever trusted." she clinked his glass with hers. They both threw another back.
"Bones, we should stop, now. Your really drunk," Booth was looking at her. "Come on, I'll help you up." he stood, and offered her his hand, trying not to stagger.
She stood, and let him guide her to her room, "Don't worry Bones, I'll take care of you." He walked her to her room. She sat down on the edge of the bed. "Scoot back, Bones." And she did. He reached down, and pulled her shoes off, one at a time. "Go to sleep, Bones."
Instead, she reached for him, and pulled him down beside her. "This is not a good idea." He whispered in her ear." We're drunk, Bones."
"I know, isn't it great." and giggled.
"Ah, Bones, sometimes, you just kill me, you know that."
"Killing you, Booth, is not on my list of things to do tonight." As she reached for him.
She planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek. "Mmmmmmm, you smell good, Booth."
Breething deep, in and out, "Bones, you better stop this, or I won't be held responsible." He put his face, deep into her neck, taking in her scent. She always smelled good, to him.
She kissed him again, and again. "Bones, you don't know what your are doing to me, right now." He tried pushing her away.
"I know exactly what I am doing, right now, Booth."
She looked him deep in the eyes, and kissed him, square on the mouth. Spurred on by her boldness, Booth kissed her back. A kiss that devastated both of them, overriding any sense of foreboding. Their mouths coming together again and again. Her hands found their way under his shirt, stroking, and touching him. His hands found her face, "I want you." And he bent down, and gave her a mind altering kiss, forcing all coherants thoughts, out of both of their minds, and proceeded to show her, just how much he wanted her.

Re: Accidentally on Purpose
He knew the second she came awake. He had been lying there, wondering, how she was going to react. She moved against him. He felt her whole body stiffen and try to pull away from him.
No way, Bones, I won't let you do this. He slid his hands around her waist, and pulled her tight against him.
She felt his hands slide around her, brushing under her breasts, and pull her tight against him. She felt his very naked body, conform to her back. His hand slid around, and held her in place. "Bones." he whispered in her ear.
He slid his hand, down her leg, until her reached her knee. He slipped his hand behind her knee, and bent her knee, allowing him to slide forward behind her.
"Oh God, Bones." he put his face, into her neck, breathing deep. Her smell had always driven him crazy.
Grasping her around the waist, pulling her impossibly close, he touched her, stroked her, his lips never leaving her neck, hovering around her ear, constantly telling her how beautiful he thought she was. He showed her his strength, his virility and told her how much he wanted her, has always wanted her.
And after, he pulled her close, and wrapped her up, tight in his arms, "Go to sleep, Bones." he whispered. They had alot to deal with in the morning.

Re: Accidentally on Purpose
Tightening his arms around her, he was tired of waiting for her to awaken. Booth bent head down, and began to place little tiny kisses all over her face, whispering her name, nudging her awake.
Very distantly, she heard him call her name, felt him tighten his arms around her. Even before she opened her eyes, she knew who it was. She turned in his arms, and slipped her hands up to his chest. "Booth." she breathed.
"Good morning." he was looking directly into her eyes, as if he was reading her mind.
She gave a little sigh, "Good morning.", her head throbbed reminding her of last night.
"Oh, my head, remind me to stay away from Saki next time, Booth." she gave him a tight smile.
"I don't know, Bones, I kinda enjoyed the saki, last night." he gave her a small smile.,
"Last night, yes, this morning, not so much, Booth" she sat up, holding the sheet to her chest.
Booth sat up beside her. He wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her into his embrace. "You okay, with everything, Bones."
She knew what he was asking. Not sure how to make him understand, she decided to show him. She turned in his arms, and gave him, a blinding kiss. After a long minute, she pulled away to take a breath.
"No regrets, Bones?" he was asking.
"OH, I have regrets Booth." he looked at her.
"I regret, that we didn't do this sooner." He'd been holding his breath.
A big smile spread across his face, "Well, I'm glad to hear it Bones, cause I plan on making you have that regret, everyday for the rest of your life, starting, right now." As he pushed her back on the bed.
And later, laying in each others arms, they laughed together about the past, and dreamed of a future.

"Bones." She looked over at him. They were on their way to the Jeffersonian.
"I was thinking, that it might be a good idea, just to keep this," he waved his hand between them, "quiet, until, I can figure out, how to appoach Hacker about us, being ...together." He wasn't sure how Hacker was going to react.
"I agree. I don't want anything interfering with our partnership."
"Do you think we can keep it quiet, from the others?" He looked at her.
"I would say, yes, but I think your the one, who will falter."
"Excuse me?" his brow lifted.
"Booth, your wear your emotions on your sleeve."
"It's heart, Bones, wear your heart on your sleeve, and I do not."
"You do." she smiled at him. "Care to make a wager, Booth?"
"A wager? What kind of wager?" his curiosity piqued.
"I'll bet you can't keep your hands to yourself, in front of people, for a whole week."
"But, when we're alone?"
"I'm all yours Booth." That didnt seem too, bad.
"If I win........?"
She bent close to his ear, and whispered. Listening intently, his eyes opened wide, his brows arched, he turned and looked at her. Wow.
"Deal."
"That's not fair, what do I get, if I win."
"Doesn't matter, Bones, no way am I losing."
"We'll see, Booth." and she laughed.

Re: Accidentally on Purpose
Brennen walked into the Jeffersonian alone that morning.
"Where's Booth?" Angela walked up, beside her.
"He had an early meeting, he dropped me off."
"Studly didn't walk you in?" Ang looked at her, halfway smirking.
"Not this morning." she shrugged.
"You guys go out last night?"
"We went to dinner." Brennen dodged her eye contact.
Hmmm, this interesting. "Where did you go?"
"Just the Founding Father's." she paused," I got to talk to Cam, for a minute, Ang." and practically ran out, leaving Angela standing there.
Brennen made it to her office. Angela was her best friend, and while technically she didn't lie, it felt like a lie. Angela was very perceptive, about certain things, and there was no way she was going to lose the bet, to Booth.
She sat down at her desk, threaded her fingers together and leaned back, in deep in thought. She had a thought. Angela was her best friend, she could bring her on board, and enlist her help, without Booth knowing. Who better to help her win?
She picked up her phone, "Ang. Can you come to my office for a few minutes."
A few minutes later, "hey Bren, what's up?" She stuck her head in the door.
"Come in, and close the door."
"Okay, Bren?"
"I have a question for you?"
"Shoot." Bren continued to look at her. "That means speak, Bren."
"Can you keep a secret?" Brennen looked at her.
This had Angela sitting staight up, "What kind of secret?"
Brennen sat up, and told Angela, without going into too, great of details, about the events of last night. In between squeals of delight, she managed to convey to Angela the terms of the bet.
"So, your bet, is that he can't touch you, for a whole week." Angela was smiling. "What does the winner get?"
Brennen looked up at her, "You read my new book yet?" only a few people had copies, it wasn't released for two more weeks.
"Of course, sweetie, you signed it for me, remember.........................Oh, My God." Angela looked startled for a moment, "page 187?"
"No wonder why he wants to win."
"So can I count on your help?"
"Sure, sweetie, I got your back." Brennen looked puzzled, "that means, I'm there for you Bren."
"Good, I knew you would be." and they began to make plans. Booth, was going down.

Re: Accidentally on Purpose
Booth was sitting at his desk, thinking back over, the previous nights events. Still not quite believing that he, and Brennen, had actually gotten together. It didn't quite seem real, after spending years longing, and imagining what it could be like between them. It had finally happend, and it was so much more than what he thought it would be.
It was going to be hard, keeping it under wraps. Even before yesterday, any opportunity to touch her, he took. She didn't seem to notice anymore, it just seemed so natural for both of them, to be together, even though, they weren't a couple. But, now, after being with her, touching her in everyway, it was going to be even harder.
Thinking about their morning conversation, and their bet, he leaned back, deep in thought. He might need a little help from a friend.
Booth picked his phone, and dialed, "Hey, Hodgins, Booth. I need a favor."

Her phone rang. "Hey, Bones, you ready to go to lunch?"
"I'm ready."
"Be there in twenty." he hung up.
Brennen dialed up Angela, "He'll be here in twenty minutes, you ready to go to lunch?"
"More than ready." This was going to be fun. Angela loved messing with Booth.

Hodgins phone rang, "I"ll be there in fifteen, you ready?"
"Dude, you know I'm ready." and clicked his phone off.

Re: Accidentally on Purpose
Angela was with Brennen in her office. "Bren, you look good, subtle, yet sexy."
Brennen had changed her outfit from this morning. Instead of her classy slacks and blouse, she had on, she now wore a mulberry colored sweater, and a sexy black skirt, that had a slit up the side. The sweater had a sharp v neck that plunged down, showing enough cleavage, to make any man, do a double take.
Her hair lay in soft waves, on her shoulders, the way she knew Booth liked. She had even applied extra makeup, giving her eyes the smokey look, and dabbing lipstick, the exact shade of her sweater on.
Her cell phone rang. "Brennen."
"Hey, Bones, you ready to go to lunch?"
"I'm ready." She smiled at Angela.
"I'm out front, can you meet me?"
"Out front?" she queried back.
"Yep, see ya in a minute." Booth clicked his phone off.
"What's up?" Angela noticed the puzzled look on her face.
"He wants to meet out front."
"That's weird." In all the times of them going to lunch, Booth always, always, came in and got her, before escorting her out to lunch.
"Yea." Brennen didn't know what to think.
"You ready." Angela looked at her. "Let's go."
Together, they walked out the front doors of the Jeffersonian, and walked around to where the front entrance was. They spotted Booth's vehicle, and walked in the direction, to where he was parked.
"What the.........." Angela stopped short, causing Brennen to look up. There in the front seat, in her spot, was Hodgins. In six years, no one had sat in that spot, except her. He looked up at them both, and grinned enthusiasticlly, and began waving to them.
**********************************************************
"Booth, did you check out the look on their faces" Hodgins was still waving, his smile widening.
"I saw it." Booth said, with a grin.
Brennen, and Angela walked up to his vehicle, both at aloss what to say.
"Glad you two could make it, jump in." Booth said, trying really hard not to smile.
Brennen stood on the side of his vehicle a second, before she realized, he wasn't going to get out, and open her door. Not sure, what to think, Brennen reached out, and opened the door. She climbed in, "Booth, Hodgins." She couldn't remember the last time, Booth didn't open the door for her.
She turned to Angela, widening her eyes slightly, silently communicating with her. Angela shrugged her shoulders, and narrowed her eyes, "Didn't know you were going lunch with us, Jack." emphasis on his name.
"That's funny, Angela, I didn't know you were coming either." he said, without looking at her. "The more, the merrier, I guess." with a big grin.

Re: Accidentally on Purpose
"How's your day going, Bones?" Booth glanced back at her, thru the rearview.
"Fine." short and to the point. Sitting there, in the back seat, she felt.......annoyed, more than annoyed, perturbed, maybe. It wasn't something, she was accustomed to, and she realized, she did not like it, at all.
She looked over at Angela, as they pulled into a parking spot, time for their plan to kick in.
"Wonder what the special is today, I'm starved." Booth opened the vehicle door for her, but instead of the usual escort in, he walked ahead, "So, Hodgins, what did you think of the game last night?" As they walked in the front door of the diner, leaving Angela and Brennen standing beside his vehicle.
"Wow, Bren, they are so totally up to something." She looked up, at Bren. "Follow my lead." Angela's eyes were darting behind her.
"Ladies." a deep baritone voice said behind them.
"Gentlemen." Angela purred. Booth and Jack, were already inside.
"You gals here for lunch?" Brennen turned.
"We are." Angela grinned.
"This is my friend, Bren, and I'm Angela."
"Very nice to meet you, ladies." He was very handsome, but not as handsome as Booth. He stuck his hand out, and grasped Brennen's hand. He gave it a gentle squeeze, "I'm Scott. and this is my friend, Jay."
"Well, hi, Jay." Angela looked at Brennen.
"Would you ladies care to join us?"
"We're meeting a couple of friends here, maybe you should join us." Angela suggested.
"Sounds good to me." Scott said, nothing better than eating lunch with a couple of lovely ladies.

Re: Accidentally on Purpose
Jay held the door open,"Ladies first." Both Brennen, and Angela walked in.
Brennen had a twinge of guilt about someone else's hand on her back, guiding her thru the door. She looked up, to their usual table, where they always sat. Booth, wasn't even looking, he was having a animated conversation, about some hockey move, and Hodgins, was sitting in her spot. Guilt was gone.
"UH, Booth, man, your not going to believe this." Hodgins big blue eyes, got even bigger, he jerked his head, motioning for Booth to look up.
Booth, made a little hissing sound, under his breath. Angela looked up, "Oh, hey, Booth, Hodgins, this is Scott, and Jay. They are going to be joining us for lunch."
Booth, hands under the table clenched.
Scott's hand was on her back, leading her to her chair, where he pulled it out for her. Before sitting, she began unbuttoning the front of her coat. "here, allow me." and Scott assisted her with her coat. Booth gritted his teeth, and put forth a tight smile.
Brennen shrugged out of her coat, one arm at a time. "Thanks Scott." and turned back towards the table. She leaned forward giving them a healthy view of her cleavage.
Booth felt every muscle in his body tighten, especially when Scott leaned forward and dropped his gaze to Bone's chest.
"Jay, Scott, this is Booth, and Jack, they're the friends we told you, we were meeting." Angela smiled at them.
Jack narrowed his eyes at Angela,"How do you know each other?"
"We don't, we just met, outside." Jay said, "When two beautiful women ask you to join them for lunch, far be it from us, to say no."
"They were very kind to us, Booth. They opened the door for us, like a true gentlemen." Angela supplied them with this information, watching Booth's jaw tighten.
"Aw shucks, mam," Jay said, to be funny, in a twangy country accent, causing Angela to giggle, and causeing Hodgins, to roll his eyes.
Brennen put her elbows on the table, causeing her breast to push up, drawing the eyes of every man, in the vicinity.
Booth, was trying really hard to maintain his expression
"So what is it, you ladies do?" Jay prompted the conversation.
"I'm a artist, and Bren, here, is a scientist. What do you fella's do?"
"We're attorney's, we work right around the corner."
"Really, I've never seen you here, before?"
"We just found this place," he looked at Angela, "if you guys come here, we'll have to try it out, more often."
"Your so sweet, isn't he Jack?"
Instead of an answer, Hodgins grunted, and stared straight ahead.
"Booth here is a agent, in the FBI, boys, better not break the law, or he'll arrest you, won't you Booth." Angela looked at Booth.
"FBI is not the same thing as the police, Ang." he sighed, "But, yes, I can arrest you." for good measure.
"Jack is a scientist, he works with Bren, and I, we help Booth solve crimes."
"Facinating," Scott said.
"So," Scott looked at Booth, and then Jack, "How long have you two been together?"
"WHAT?" Booth, and Jack said simultaniously, they looked at each other, and the sound of scooting chairs was heard, "there's no together. We're not together, ever, never, ever."
"never, never, ever, together." Jack added, looking stricken.
Brennen had turned her head away, and was trying to stop the urge, to laugh, Angela seemed to be having a coughing fit.
"So, sorry, I just assumed, you two were sitting together, and with two such beautiful companions..........."
"Excuse me, gentlemen, I need to use the ladies room." Angela said in a choked voice, and pulled Brennen to her feet. They made it to the restroom, and let the door swing shut, before they both burst into laughter.
