Emily cast in 'Perfect Family'

Emily Deschanel is set to topline Anne Renton's indie pic "The Perfect Family," opposite Kathleen Turner.

From producers Cora Olson and Jennifer Dubin, "Perfect Family" also stars Jason Ritter, Michael McGrady and Richard Chamberlain.

Renton will direct from a script by Claire Riley and Paula Goldberg.

Storyline revolves around a devoutly Catholic wife and mother (Turner) who has been nominated for one of the church's top awards. She goes about trying to prove she has the "perfect" family, refusing to accept them for who they are.

Deschanel plays the daughter, a successful lawyer who is a lesbian. The daughter, who is five months pregnant, struggles when it comes time to telling her mother the truth.

Meanwhile, the son (Ritter) has just left his wife for an older woman, while the husband (McGrady) is a recovering alcholic. Chamberlain plays the monsignor.

"Perfect Family" is an Independent/Present Pictures production.

Deschanel is the star of Fox's hit TV drama "Bones."

When is she filming this? One thing I read said during the bones break. Does anyone know for sure? I'm guessing she woudln't have time to do it during the year.

This is so exciting. I love seeing her in other roles. She is such a great under rated actress. This role will totally be different from bones. A pregnant lesbian....so different than brennan!

she's going to be in a movie with Chandler's dad!!!!!! (Kathleen Turner)

I love how she's not shy about playing different roles. Go Emily!

That's great for Emily. Isn't she tired? she has stated a few times that working on Bones and it's grueling schedule is very tiresome. I think they stopped shooting Bones the first or second week of April. It looks like it didn't take her long to get the rest she needed. Good for her!!!
