Actually, it's worse even that - they didn't think the characters through when they started. They changed Angela's character overall - made her smarter. Still, they didn't think about what it takes to program - MEGA math skills. As for Brennan - that's just ridiculous. That level of genius - at fifteen she'd be on her way to college on full schoolship to the Ivy league.

Speaking of continuity problems and characters changing....after watching the latest episodes and then going back to watch the very first few episodes...in some ways, it seems like Brennan's character has gone backwards a bit. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. I kind of miss the Brennan in the first episode - she was so much tougher. I realize that part of it was obviously because she didn't get along with Booth, and that another part is that she's changed because of Booth, but still. In some ways, she just didn't seem quite as socially awkward as she does now, ironically. I don't know, maybe I'm just crazy?


Anyways, since I'm new, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before or not, but....In the episode Aliens in a Spaceship it really really REALLY drives me crazy that we never get to see/read/hear the letters that Hodgins wrote to Angela and Brennan wrote to Booth. Well, we knew that Hodgins was in love with Angela at that point, so I'm not as curious about his letter as Brennan's. I thought for sure they would bring it up again in The Boy with the Answer, but I was sorely disappointed. Any chance Brennan actually kept that letter?

I agree with Dawn, that I hope Brennan still has the letter or a copy of it ... but I gotta say I'm not sure I ever wanna know what it says. Because nothing it says will ever live up to my expectations and will be a disapointment in some way. Although I would like a nice scene where we see Booth read the letter, and his reaction to it. Kinda like how they did with Brennan's book and page 187.

I've noticed that to, but I like to think it's just a sign that she is getting more comfortable around her friends. As a sort of socially awkward person myself, I know I've learned to fake normal when I have to for practical reasons. When you really get to know someone, it's nice not to have to hide when you find a social custom that everyone else is doing odd, or when you really didn't know that your friend was being sarcastic. I haven't noticed any decline in her social interaction with strangers, which makes me think Brennan is just choosing to say things that she know will come off as awkward because she feels safe enough to do so. Of coarse, I am using some psychology now which I know is an inexact science, so I could be simply letting my personal experience effect my viewpoint too much.

In the commentary for Two Bodies in the Lab, Emily says that the producers promised her that Brennan would save Booth before Booth saved Brennan. So, exactly when did Brennan save Booth prior to Bodies?

yesss, that is such a good idea. i never thought about that. on one hand I have always wanted to know what was said but on the other hand, like you said, it cold never live up to my expectations... especially because of where she was at that stage (i know we have discussed this before), so yeahhhh if we got to see the letter again but just a the way that only Booth gets to read it and his reaction. that would be really nice.

You know, I was talking to one of my friends about the possibility of us seeing the letter just before The Boy with the Answer and to be honest...what good would it do? I mean, I'm just like everyone else and am interested in finding out what Brennan wanted to say in what she thought might be her last few minutes.

That being said, given what we've seen this past season, Brennan was either completely oblivious of her feelings for him at that time or well, was like Booth himself and simply chose to ignore them. And if that one is true, why not at least tell him that much in the 100th? Basically, what would it say? "Don't blame yourself. I know you do the best you could. It has been an honor to be your partner."...and yeah, she probably would've signed it Bones.

But my main point? It's wondering why there wasn't some big, meaningful Booth speech at that moment. Bren talked about how she wanted to know what it was like to share her life with someone; wondered why they all felt that way. I mean, really? If TPTB expect us to believe Booth knew "from the beginning" (which, admittedly, I'm willing to believe sometimes. This being one of them), why on earth did he NOT tell her then? Or at least say something more than "You will. Someday, you will."?

I don't recall her complaining about it in recent seasons, the last time I remember it was maybe season 2? she seems ok with it now, she even told Ang this season that the only nickname that she has ever had was " just Bones" with a happy little smile, I'd even go so far as to say she likes it now.
