The 2010 World Cup.
I think it's about time The ABY started an official World Cup thread. Only two more days!
So, post predicted winners, favorite players, and who you're pulling for in the Cup.
For me it's all about this guy...

Re: The 2010 World Cup.
I'm German so of course I support "Schland"
(The German word for Germany is Deutschland, if it is yelled in a soccer stadium the Deu(t) is almost impossible to hear though......so most of the fans are now for "Schland" instead of Deutschland)
This is the team
[Only admins are allowed to see this image][Only admins are allowed to see this link] alt="" />
and though we had some hard drawbacks in the last weeks, I am certain that we won't be too bad in the end......it's a young team and Ballack will be missed for sure, but we can make it to the semi-final I think......and then it's mostly about luck anyway

Re: The 2010 World Cup.
Wooooyeah!! I think the prospect of a full month of non-stop football is what's keeping me alive at this point.
Oh, no, not Mesi! (I'm an Arsenal fan, so you know, he's not my favorite guy in the world. LOL)
Toz! I heard about Ballack. That and Ferdinand. I wanted to cry when I heard. As much as I'm a Brazil girl all the way (Go, Brasil, baby!), I'm all about good matches. And those guys will certainly be missed.
My dream final would be Spain V Brasil. I'd go insane trying to cheer for either team. lol.

Toz!! You're cheering for Germany? Really? LOL! I am cheering for anyone playing France. Haha! I think Brazil always has a chance, but I think an upset is in order this year. I have one Euro on South Korea. Because, why not.

I don't mind Arsenal much, I like them waaay better than Chelsea. But Messi is by far my favorite player. My dad is straight up from Argentina so I was raised on baby blue and white.
I'd really like a Cup like '02. A bunch of surprise teams getting far into the tournament. The good ol' USA is my 2nd favorite team, so we'll see if they can actually score goals this Cup.
Tomorrow is the day! Woooo!

I've got to say, watch out for Nigeria. Their under-17 squad has been amazing for years, it might be too soon for the senior team, but keep an eye. They're good.

Re: The 2010 World Cup.
I see it coming that France might go down like in 2002......no goal scored....and home they fly.....
I'd like that!
Especially after the way they made it to the World Cup in the first place.....
I was kinda hoping for South Africa to win, but they still have some chances to make it to the round of the last 16. It is a World Cup in their home country after all....they should at least make it under the top 16 imo.
South Korea won the game against Greece 2-0. I did not see that one coming.....I thought it would be a draw maybe.....
Argentina - Nigeria in about half an hour should be a no-brainer....but Danny is right Nigeria's youth has been good in the last couple years......you never know
And then tonight England - USA England seems to be fit and ready for a World Cup.....but aren't they always?
In the end they almost never made it that far in the last couple years.....but I still think they'll win this game.....
Well, we'll see.
Anyway Of course I am cheering for Germany.....till my throat is sore......although I don't think that'll be necessary when we play Australia......we'll win that one for sure. Serbia is a lot harder to play imo, so we'll have to watch out for them.
