Needing some Disneyworld help

Post by katharine on Tue Sep 07, 2010 11:03 pm

Hey Aby friends -

I am traveling to meet family for vacation at Disneyworld in early October.

We will have a 6 and 8 year old and an expecting mom.

Haven't been to Disney in years. First, any suggestions in what we really need to see and what we can miss?
Any tips for us in the park walking around with kids? Any webpages that anyone has found or books that will lead us in the right direction?
Anything you can and can't take into the park with you. We are not staying at the Resort.
Also, anything else in the area that we need to take in besides Disney?
I'll take any good tips.

thanks,

Kath

It's been 6 years since I was there, but if you have young kids, Magic Kingdom is a must see, and you could probably skip Epcot. MGM is my favorite, but I'm a bit older, (lol). Animal Kingdom is probably a good one too for the little ones.

I usually buy the Unofficial Guides...I added the link on Amazon for the most recent one. You can even look inside to see what it has to offer before you buy it, but I've found some good tips in them.

If you have time, I'd definitely suggest Universal Studios as well...my favorite is Seuss Landing. It's right out of a Dr Seuss book, and the kids are sure to love it! The adults might like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, if you're a fan. I was actually just at Universal a month ago, so if you have any questions or would like to see pictures, just let me know.

Say What You Want: Goodbye, dear ABY. You have been my home for 3 years now, and I am going to miss you. Thanks, willgirl, for creating this wonderful forum. *hugs to all*

Closing time - time for you to go back to the places you will be from.
Closing time - this room won't be open 'til your brothers or your sisters come.
So gather up your jackets, and move it to the exits - I hope you have found a friend.
Closing time - every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

Thanks for the info. I talked to my niece and she says the girls definitely want Magic Kingdom. They want to do Epcot, but I want Animal Kingdom. I want to go on a safari. I would love Suess landing. I too am older and Dr. Suess books to me were my favorite world when I was a kid. The girls like them.
I'll check the Amazon link.
Thanks again.

Yeah, the safari is really fun...the girls really enjoyed that, and so did I. As far as Epcot...they were bored almost instantly. They did like doing the passports though, it kept them occupied for a bit. If they still have them, I would suggest it...they get a stamp at every country, and I think they had crafts to do at some of the stations. Myself, I've been to Epcot 3 times, and really, once was enough. I never had a desire to do it again, but we thought the girls should do it at least once which is why we went the last time.

Universal is great, but if you do go and only have time for one park, choose Islands of Adventure. Much more fun for the kids...and parents too, if you're like me, lol.
