Nielsen ratings

Here is an easy to understand break down of the Nielsen ratings and sweeps. (It is from wikipedia, but is probably somewhat accurate for what we want to know.)

As in the section that criticizes the method of data collection, I also agree the system is broke. It would be interesting to know what are the politics that hold it together.
