Want to read a quote that depresses me from the first episode of season 3?
When Dr. Brennan is explaining to Hodgins that she doesn't go out into the field anymore because she's trying to find a replacement for Zack, Hodgins responds,
"There IS no replacement fot Zack. He was good with bones... Excellent at math... He was pretty brilliant at making contraptions... And when our experiements blew up, it was easy to pin the blame on him. In my book, all of that makes Zack irreplaceable."
*sniffles* Wish TPTB had remembered that.

i wish the ptb would go ahead and kick the writers' asses (yay, i can actually write ass here, loving it!
) for what they did to us!
sorry, i know it's probably all been thoroughly discussed already, i'm new to this place. but i just can't get over it. and i'm trying. seriously trying! just browsed though some season 3 episodes, and it's so sad to watch any scenes with zach.
still, what makes me really really mad isn't even the decision to let zach go itself but how absolutely devastatingly crappily written that was! nothing about that whole thing made ANY sense to me... the worst part being that they so obviously had a totally different guy jumping out of that closet on knight on the grid and simply pretended like it had been zach only a few episodes later. do they think we're blind or stupid or both??
but did you guys read that interview with EM where he said they only decided to turn him into gormogon's apprentice 2 months ago!? i mean that really explains a lot! there couldn't have been any background story, clues or explanations, because they didn't even bother to write any. did they not even care, if any of it makes sense? did they think we wouldn't notice? i mean, come on, we all know they can do better! guess they really just wanted to "shock the fans" no matter what. well congrats, hh, you succeeded... i'm in total shock at what a bad episode a normally so extremely talented staff can put together. i really never would have expected that.
alright, i'll just try and stop myself here, before my face turns blue. i'm just so disappointed and sad and mad and... ugh. especially after those two wonderful and intense episodes before the finale! doesn't that just make it an even bigger let-down!? there are so many great things they could have done with that whole scenario of booth's fake death and everything brennan had to deal with. that cliffhanger really did cause me some pain in the heart, the finale was just a pain in the ass. oh man, here i go again... sorry. finally trying to shut myself up. maybe i'll go do some yoga or something. just breathe.
have a wonderful day everyone! sorry 'bout my ranting.

Yeah I also thought from the beginning he lived in a house. When she appears at the door and you can see from the inside out it looks like vegetation just outside...much more like a house than an apartment.

So Zack says he only joined three months ago. This brings about the question, during which episodes did he belong to the "dark side"?
Is player under pressure suppose to count as a season 3 ep even though we all know it was filmed during season 2? Does it start from the episode where the guy is killed by "Zack"? Does it include baby in the bough when it was originally suppose to be before the Christmas episode?

Some of the episodes aired since the strike were filmed last year. I think only Verdict and Pain were filmed after the strike so those would be the only 2 since he was considered the killer?

Ya know... The continuity this season was horrid from the strike, but it made it THAT MUCH harder to view Zack as a killer. He MET Gormogon 3 months ago... And yet, the lobbyist, it would seem was killed sometime before that.
*thinks*
You know, about all of this... Gormogon dragged a kid into a pool and Booth was running around in a short sleeved shirt-- it gets COLD in DC in the winter, that pool would've been covered had it happened 3-ish months ago. In, oh say, January or February... Only, The Knight in the Grid aired WELL before the Santa in the Slush which was Decemeber (obviously, ha!).
So yeah. Even more issues for my sad little brain to deal with. Ugh!

really, don't bother! reasoning just won't work. to me it all looks like they didn't plan anything, they just decided at the last second what would shock people most and made zach the apprentice.. i mean who cares he's neither a widow's son nor in any way capable of murder, oh and that they already showed us a completely different guy as the apprentice.. who would remember that! haha
they really should go back to their regular "murder of the week" stories. guess they really can't handle a storyline that spans more than 2 episodes.
okay, and i'm totally starting to repeat myself.

Re: Pain in the Heart - DISCUSSION by willgirl posted 19/05/2008
I'm new and it's all been said before but it seems most people here are feeling like I am. There is no end of talking about this because we all seem to be reasonably minded - as a result we CAN NOT reasonably accept Zack as a killer, Zack as an apprentice to a psycho, Zack as a suddenly altered personality, Zack . . . gone.
I loved his character and his role was pivotal to the interaction of so many other characters. Hodgins needed a foil and a straight man to play off to give his character dimension. He has his hot romance with Angela but that isn't going to carry the day and they've even made that lose a little simmer in the last few episodes. With Zack as the rational head but detached heart that allowed space for Brennan to become more balanced and explore her emotional attachments. Now, they'll likely pull her back and make her more detached. It might help them stretch out the tension between Booth and her but it isn't helping me.
Cam's maternal nature toward Zack was special and gave a vehicle to make everyone accept rather than exclude her as a late-to-the-dance character.
I NEED things in the lab blowing up and the competition between Zack and Hodgins. No more pigs in wood chipper experiments or "Why am I always the victim?" re-enactments. (Another stick in your throat bit of irony).
And , they will never sell me on Zack as a Silence of the Lambs, criminally insane expert. What are they going to do smuggle evidence into his psych ward for him to examine with the a magnifying glass and a blunt pair of scissors???
I doubt they would have lost one fan and likely would have gained more to have extended the Gormogon case well into next season. If they can stretch out a much less involved series of episodes with the Grave Digger there would have been no problem extending the search for a cannibal. And to make sure they couldn't undue a bad thing, they took away Zack's hands. Cold. Very cold.
Too contrived and too content to let everyone turn off their hearts and heads to make room for the gaps in the story, I think.

yeah... you know... I've pretty much decided that was a bad dream. That is how I'm going to look at it. It didn't happen, cause they sure didn't sell me on it. So... they can try and tell me it did happen but I'm going to prefer to believe that Zack got a better job... or just got written off the show badly... really badly... they tried to make me believe he's a nutjob but I can't, and won't. Not with that cop out ending. So I'm just gonna say whatever and not let it bother me. Zack is gone but I'm still gonna enjoy the good times. And ignore the poopy of that last ep.
